I need to get my male cat on a daily dental product to prevent any further tooth/gum problems. I'm deciding between 2: V Oratene Maintenance Oral Gel and MaxiGuard Oral Cleansing Gel.

I want to know if these products are safe for a cat that has a history of urinary crystals. My vet doesn't think they would cause problems, but I'd like to hear from someone with personal experience.

Has anyone who has a cat with bladder crystals/issues used one of these products long-term and were they okay? My cat has been fine after switching to distilled water, I just want to make sure that there's nothing in cat dental products that could lead to infections/blockages.

Thanks.

Bumping this thread in the hopes that someone with experience of these products will see it.

I have a crystals cat, but have never come across the gels in question.

Okay, thanks. Do you use any specific product on your cat's teeth that has been safe for him? It doesn't have to just be either of the products I listed, just one that has nothing harmful in it that could contribute to crystals.

I've tried using Logic Oral Hygiene Gel with him, but he really wasn't too keen. To be honest, he's 13 and I don't feel there's a huge amount of point bothering until he has a full dental cleaning. We didn't think about this kind of thing when he was younger - its only since I brought in a rescue who has a dead tooth that I've really thought about it.
