Hi everyone,
My beloved 17 year old flame point siamese recently developed a growth/swollen lymph node in her armpit that's so troublesome it's causing her to drag her front leg. She's doing well otherwise, eating well and pretty good attitude, purring, etc, but definitely worn out and sleeping a lot. Vet thinks it's probably lymphoma. I am just trying to keep her comfy as she begins the process of leaving us. The vet (who is great) suggested I see if she responds well to being on prednisone which might buy a little time and make her feel better for the time she is here.
Well, I've only given her the first two doses and she seems to be handling it fine except I'm noticing she hasn't slept deeply since I gave it to her. She seems to doze off a bit here and there with her eyes open, which is new behavior for her... Has anyone seen this is in a cat on pred? Will she get used to the medication eventually and get rest again or is this just the way cats on pred are? I don't really like it, I sort of think it might be better to have her with us for less time if she can get lots of cozy sleep during that time.
