Camille was spayed on Tuesday (July 28). She came home, hid in our roommates bedroom under his couch for almost a day, officially came out of hiding late Tuesday morning, and was doing great other than looking greasy from the procedure (being handled and the ear mite treatment and whatnot).

The problem started yesterday afternoon. She started puking everything she was eating. She can hold down water, her gums are pale (still a little bit of color, but not much, so I know there is a strong chance of anemia).

I have to force her water through a dropper. I tried giving her some wet food, but she threw it up about 15 minutes later. I'm trying to keep her hydrated as much as I can.

I've called the vets office she went to answer their after hours emergency service answered and they left a message with the on call vet, who has to call me back. I don't have a lot of options for payment, either.

Help?

The most important thing is to keep her hydrated. Some Pedialyte might be a good idea to replace essential electrolytes too. It definitely isn't sounding good to me. I hope you hear back from the emergency vet soon :vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes:

I hope the vet calls you back really soon and they are able to see her.  It could be something related to the surgery, or pure coincidence it's so soon after.  The more information you have for the vet when they call the better so write anything down you think of as it can be hard to think and remember when the vet calls or you go in to see them.   Like if she has any swelling, how the wound looks from the spay / condition of any stitches, if her ears or paws feel hot or cold etc.  Also if she is sick is it just  food, or liquid and what colour.  Is she an inside cat and has she been fairly quiet since her surgery or dashing about before she got sick?  All relevant

The pale gums could be shock rather than anaemia or bleeding.

You are doing well trying to keep her hydrated and contacting the emergency vets.

She went to her water dish by herself a little bit ago. Doesn't seem to interested in food. Her ears seem normal per warmth, maybe slightly warmer than normal. Her incision is very small, the size of a dime! It's warm to the touch, but not red or irritated.

She responds to touch and will actively seek out pets when we call for her. She's in the cat carrier now. We set her out some cat nip to calm her down as she wasn't too pleased with me force dropping her water.

So right now we're letting her rest without being bothered by the kitten (who is unaffected by any symptoms she's presenting).

Asking for good vibes for our furbaby until the vet calls us back. That clinic is usually very busy so I'm hoping to hear back soon

Keep her warm, comfort her, and get her to a vet as soon as humanely possible.

This doesn't sound good, try to keep her warm, if you have some dry rice, any kind will do, you can put it in a larger sock or pillow case, microwave it until it is warm, be sure it is not hot, and it'll keep her warm, and try to see if any Vet will see her. This seems very urgent.

Another thing, you could try rubbing sugar water or karo syrup on her gums, in case she has low blood sugar due to the vomiting.

After she napped for a good two hours, the vet finally called me back! I gave her all if Camille's symptoms and she said

-let her rest
-let her drink on her own if she is because dropping it could force small amount into her lungs
-try some broth on her (which I did, but she didn't seem too interested)
-in the morning, feed her a tablespoon of plain yogurt and see if we can get the good bacteria back in her stomach/gut
-keep her hydrated

She did try to eat on her own from her food bowl, and 10 minutes after, so far so good.
And she seems to be more alert after resting.
And her gums seem to be getting their color back. :)

The vet also said, if it comes down to it, bring her in on Monday to have her checked.

So, some calming news! Thank you everyone for the advice, I'll keep you updated!

Final update!

Camille has started eating and drinking on her own. More energy and responsiveness. Still looks like she lost a pound from not eating but she's doing so much better.

She's currently hanging out at the foot of the bed snoozing contently.

We're so glad that she settled. Maybe it was stress and shock from the procedure. I guess we'll never know. But thank you everyone for the advice and good vibes!

I am so relieved!
Can only imagine how you feel.  So glad she seems to be over what ever it was that bothered her.  It sounded like her body was in shock over something last night and that's scary.

May she make the most of lots of kitty cuddles and enjoy the pampering she will have while you get her weight back up.
