Hello all, I'm new here. I started an account because I'm very concerned about my 12 year old cat.

Yesterday she jumped off the bed and must have landed awkwardly, bc she started shaking out her hind leg and limping. Then she tried to go pee soon after the fall, and nothing came out. I took her to the vet immediately and they examined her - there was no obvious fracture, so they gave her extended release buprenorphine as a painkiller and told me to restrict her movement for several days by putting her in a small area like a crate.

I put her in a medium sized dog crate with a small litterbox and food and water. She seems annoyed at being stuck in a cage, but besides that, she hasn't been meowing or visibly in pain. When she stands up her limping seems to have worsened from yesterday, though. She will eat (haven't seen her drink), but she has not defecated or urinated in over 24 hours. She hasn't tried.

I've tried putting her in her normal litterbox, but she won't go in there either. She will sniff the litterbox and then lie down again. Her belly feels kind of firm and larger than usual so I know she's not empty - she just won't go!

I called the vet and they said that i shouldn't be too concerned yet if she seems to be okay with eating and not straining herself in the litterbox. What do you guys think? When do you think I should start being concerned about this? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

It's unusual but i would give her one more day unless she is attempting to pee with nothing coming out.
