At the end of June I went backpacking through Europe for three weeks. I currently live with my mom so she just took over care of my cats while I was away. My mom messaged me during my travels that my female cat, age 9, slightly over weight but in good health, and fixed, had started eliminating outside her litter box. I assumed that my mom was not keeping the litter box clean enough while I was away. Not everyone loves the task of cleaning cat waste. I arrived home to a clean litter box and poop on the floor. I've looked up information on why she could be doing this and it could be medical or stress and from the timing of the elimination it seems like stress. I thought we had finally turned a corner when two days ago I woke up and there was no poop on the floor, but upon return from a doctor's appointment two hours late there it was. It was the first day time elimination. The situation is about to get more stressful, I'm getting ready to move. I'm scheduling an appointment with the vet to have her checked out for any medical reasons for this elimination problem and as long as that turns out good I can start trying to figure out more behaviour reasons why she might be doing this. The question is I don't know what to do with the big move coming up. I'm moving into my first house with my boyfriend and I don't want this to be a problem for any of us.
