Comet is 8 months, and my first time owning a cat. I have plans tomorrow, and will be gone from 8-6. Is that too long to leave him or should I kennel  him in his crate? Usually I'm only gone a few hours, it's no issue for 2-3 hours. But 10 hours is a long time. I want to leave him out so he has his food, water, and litter, but I'm worried.

Am I being paranoid?

So long as your home is kitten proof, he will be ok. If you don't want to leave him to roam freely, confine him to a bedroom or bathroom with his food/water, litter box, bed/blanket and a few toys. He will be ok.

I do not recommend you putting him in his carrier without access to water and a litter box. Doing so for 10 hrs is not suitable.
