Hey guys,

So I had made a post a couple weeks ago on here, basically just venting that my kitties stopped eating their wet food altogether........

I wanted to ask a follow-up question -  I've been working hard with one cat in particular (the other 2 are doing reasonably well with the wet food) - the only way he will eat the wet food for now is if I load it down with Catmandoo Bonito Flakes.    And I have to go through 2 or 3 rounds of topping the food with the bonito flakes before he eventually eats most/all of it.

Since I know these flakes are derived from fish, and this cat is a male, am I possibly endangering him by using so much of the flakes?    I know fish isn't great for cats and are not good for UTI cats (he has never had a UTI or blockage or anything - I'm trying to get him back on wet food as a preventive measure against urinary issues).

Of course, the plan is to gradually reduce the amount of bonito flakes, but as it stands now, I have to absolutely load down his wet food with a crapload of bonito flakes lol - is this potentially harmful?

He likes the flakes even MORE than the Fortiflora - which was surprising to me!

I believe it use to be thought that you should avoid feeding fish to cats, especially male cats, because of the UTI/heavy metal issue. I think that is no longer the case (assuming no prior history of a UTI.)
So I wouldn't worry so much about bonito flakes causing a UTI; I would be more concerned about whether he is getting enough of the other nutrients he needs.
