Thinking of moving - what to do about small feral colony?

I live in a residential neighborhood, and take care of three feral cats (regularly - there are probably a stray or two that come in to feed that I don't know about, I'm sure).  They are all fixed, two of them are females that I have been caring for since they were born to their feral mama (who has since disappeared, I am heartbroken).

We are considering a move, and literally the first thing I thought of was, "Who will take care of the cats?"  We have some neighbors down the street that do have ferals of their own, and I am friendly with them, even helping them with TNR.  I am pretty sure if I asked them, they would feed my crew.  My question is really this:  how will my cats find their way to the neighbor's house?  Will they start looking for new places to feed and just find it?  I am so concerned that they might not find their way over.  I know that males have a wide range (one is male).  But I thought that females don't range very far...and I don't know if anyone else on the block that is closer, would be willing to feed.  In fact, I am pretty sure not.

Anyway, if anyone has any insight, I sure would appreciate it.  :)  Thank you!

First thank you for thinking of the cats. Generally, cats go where the food is; cats will go several streets over if necessary. If your neighbor is just down the same street, then I think the cats will soon find their way to the food. Remember too cats will go "as the crow flies"; in other words, the new location may be a few streets away, but there may be a more direct route via woods, around houses, across fields. I feed cats in two different locations, about 1/4 mile apart. But as the crow flies, it's much closer than that.
A few weeks before you move, be like pied piper, and carry the food to the new location, with hopefully one or two of your cats following. I would start feeding them in the new place, with you and your neighbor present. Good luck!

A good question: I will eventually be facing the same thing with my tnr colony of 8 babies raised and fed every other day since birth. I wonder if they will hunt and find feed on their own?

You are fortunate to live in an urban area where people care. We are in a rural area where there are two kinds of ferals, none of which are fixed. There is either "barn cats" or nuisance cats which are run off or shot.

We are a real oddity in the community and talked about at the local coffee place!

Sorry you have to leave your rescues... I think there is always a special bond there but at least they will be cared for and fed.

You also have the option of trapping and taking your cats with you. Before getting into the particulars, is this a possible option?

Since we haven't made a specific plan for moving yet or looked at any real estate, I wouldn't be able to really make that call (trapping and moving).  I was always under the impression that trapping and moving was a measure of last resort, so exploring other ideas first.  Of course, if it was necessary for their survival I would definitely do it.  :)

It depends on how attached you are and if you want to move them. You only have three so it would not be overly difficult. Once you know your plans you can let us know and and you can make the decision then.

I've read that if you need to move their feeding station (area... not sure what to call it) it's best to do so at 15 ft intervals at a time to ensure they all find it. I tried this and it worked but I only made it through 2 moves before I ran out of places to put it. Oops! IF you want to do this down to your neighbors I'd recommend mapping out your feeding areas beforehand haha.
