I was wondering: what is the limit on feeding eggs/egg yolks? I've always seen people say they give one or two a week, but I was wondering if there's harm when feeding more? And what if there's a variety -- like chicken, duck, and quail -- can you feed them more often? Saffron enjoys egg yolk quite a bit, so I have been offering one every 3 days or so.A similar question about bugs, too. Saffron LOVES to hunt crickets that I bring home, so I was wondering if there's drawbacks (like an overdose on something) if I offered them very regularly. Thanks!

The occasional raw egg is ok. Raw egg whites contain a protein that binds to vitamin B7. Too much of this protein in the diet causes vitamin B7 deficiency. Cooked eggs are not a problem. Raw egg yolks may not be much of a a problem if you separate the whites out but I would still only feed eggs once in awhile as a treat.

Yeah, I separate the yolk from the white and only feed one in a single sitting. And I would never do cooked. I've always just heard twice a week, but I'm wondering if there is anything in the yolk that would be harmful if fed more often like every other day or something. Same with bugs.
