I'm confused...my cat has always loved mashed potatoes, and I see it as an ingredient in some cat foods, but TCS has an article stating potatoes are poisonous to cats?

The plants are poisonous.Raw potatoes are poisonous for humans, too, especially any green spots. Cooked ones are fine for cats. Mogli's nutritionist has recommended giving him a tablespoon of boiled potatoes to slow down his digestion (he has IBD), and his prescription food has about 3% "Irish" or sweet potatoes. Our last cat adored mashed potatoes.

I made potato salad last Saturday and left the potatoes on the drainboard to cool. When I went back to slice them, the quantity had mysteriously diminished. Yep, guess who ate two large, unpeeled boiled potatoes?

There's more info here: Toxic Food for Cats

The mental image of a cat filching two unpeeled potatoes totally made me laugh out loud! Thanks for making my day.
