Okay here's the story:

My baby girl radar was pregnant, she had a healthy normal pregnancy but her delivery was rough. She spent two days in labor and ultimately, due to complications, had to get a cesarean to save her and the kittens.
The 5 kittens did not make it, but she got to come home today. Which is a huge victory for me. But I feel like she's going to struggle and that terrifies me. This is my child, my baby, my little girl. I want nothing more than for her to be okay.

She seems groggy probably from the medication she was given before she was released to me this morning. She has been purring since we got in the door and she's been sleeping a lot which I expected. But what should I be looking for? I don't want her to be depressed and not get help.

Poor girl! I'm glad she's okay.

You're going to want to keep her quiet for a bit. I'm guessing she has an incision, so you'll want to check it to make sure it stays clean and dry and make sure she's not picking at it or that it doesn't get abnormally warm or red.

Behavior wise, she should be eating and drinking if they've sent her home. Keep and eye on her food intake to make sure she keeps eating and is getting enough water. She may also need a litter pan with lower sides if you find she's having trouble getting into hers (I don't know how tall the sides are.

Really, I think the big things to watch for are that she eats, drink and uses the litter well, and that she resumes somewhat normal activity. Increased or persistent lethargy would definitely be something to watch for. Luckily she's young and has you to take care of her, so hopefully she'll be back to her old self before long.

Thank you, I just didn't even know what to begin to look for. She's been eating and sleeping alot, I don't know if she has used the litter yet though.

I was so so excited, but towards the end I was just hoping to be lucky enough to get radar through alive.

etty! Woot, she's not dehydrated so that's awesome.

I think she's confused and afraid I'm going to leave her again. She doesn't seem too upset and hasn't looked for the babies yet.

And I was denied pain medication unless I bring her in for an examination so they can "gauge her pain"
