I dont understand what is happening! I definately can tell the kitten is a bit smaller than the rest. Her eyes are also not as open and wide as the rest. Mom is not being mean or anything. She just keeps taking her out. She is still loving on her when she takes her out.

She is still latching I do kno this for sure. Could this one b her favorite? does she think she needs to b fed seperate? does she think shes sick?

I found momma on our porch a month ago. Took her to vet, clean bill of health, and adopted her. She is seperate from my cat that i have now. She will live downstairs in my sisters apartment. my cat has a history of herpes flare ups, so they will not come into contact.

I really hope there isnt something wrong wih the kitten she takes out. They r exactly 14 days old.

So cute.  Are you weighing the kittens?  It would help to know how much the little one is gaining every day.

Yes, could be.  Its wellknown they tend to take out the weakest whom they think / know is dying, and abandon it.  But sometimes, they give the weak one extra care.  She notices perhaps the stronger siblings are putting her from the best places, so he gives her little dau some extra quality time.

Its just to observe, and be ready to step in...

Get home a scale (borrow from neigbours if so is), and follow the growht development closely - especielly as you DO have a probable problem arising.

Get home also  some kmr or goat milk, and a little needleless syringe of about 1,5-2ml...

Get home also glucose sugar "dextrose" - if its difficult, so white caro syrup or honey....

I know sometimes the mothers will move the kittens at around 2 weeks and bring them closer to the people they trust.  Not sure why she is just taking them out of the box.

Eh, you don't need to do anything about the storm. Is it just a routine summer thunderstorm? If mom gets nervous she may move her kittens under something.

Is she happier now and not moving the kittens out of the nest anymore since you brought her to the living room?

About the small one - you say it's not latching well? Was it always the runt?

You need to start supplementing this kitten immediately. If it won't take the bottle use a 1-2 mL syringe. Do you know its weight? I'd suggest 4 mL of formula every 2 hours beginning immediately.

Feeding is tummy down, head up, syringe in the side of the mouth only, couple of drops, let her swallow, breathe, and go again. She may seem like she isn't too interested at first, but persist. I believe she will begin to suckle vigorously soon!

Please let me know how it's going with the feedings.

is it ok that we r touching them at 2 wks? she doesnt seem to get angry. she actually seems to b happy and purr more while we touch them. Will supplmenting cause nipple confusion?

she keeeps taking runt out and leaving it. my sister puts it back in. I live upstairs. So ive been up and down all day helping.

The mother is obviously not bother by your touching the kittens.  Do you have KMR or goats milk?

For whatever reason she is rejecting this kitten. You need to take over immediately. I need a weight soon, so if you do not have a scale you'll need to borrow or buy a kitchen scale that weighs in small grams or ounces.

Keep the kitten with you for now, don't put it back. Make a separate nest with a heat source such as a hot water bottle wrapped in a towel or a heating pad on low under a blanket.

Kitten must be warm to digest food. Can't regulate its own temperature right now.

You'll need to burp the kitten in an upright position with little pats on the back.

After each feeding you'll need to stimulate the kitten to go wee and poo with a tummy rub and by rubbing its bum with a warm damp cotton ball or cloth.

This is your only chance to save the kitten.

Take the kitten upstairs with you and do what I said.

I thought you said you had KMR.

Don't worry about touching or nipple confusion. Just get this kitten away from the mama kitty and start syringing it formula right away!!!
