So I've had my cat for about 12 years now and I got him at about 1 month old. He and I have been the best of buds until recently. He used to sleep on my bed and snuggle with me, when I walked around he would follow and he also would hang around in the same rooms as me. But recently he won't do any of that, he eats fine and nothing else has changed. He still will be affectionate to my roomates! Just not me.The only thing I can think of is that I also recently got a new job that has me away from home more than I used to be. But its not as if I've never had a job like that before. I really miss having him around me and I want to go back to that [emoji]128575[/emoji]

It very well could be the stress of having you gone more often.  Have you tried a feliway diffuser to help him with the stress?  When you are home, be sure to spend time with him.  Does he like to play?  Try a wand toy ( da bird or other) or a laser pointer and see if you can get him moving about.  He might like the idea of hunt, catch, kill, eat, groom, sleep.  You use a wand toy or laser pointer to really get the cat moving.  This allows the cat to hunt, catch and kill its prey.  Next you reward the cat with a special treat or small meal for the "eat" portion.  Next the cat will groom its self and then take a nap.

If you cat is normal in all ways except for you, I would believe it is the stress of you being gone.  You might also be caring extra stress around that he is picking up on.  It's something different for you too.  Cats really pick up on human emotions.  If he sees you as stressed or worried, he too will act that way.  Your roommates are the same and he may be seeking them out for comfort.  Try not to take it personally.  He will adjust.

If you feel that his behavior is truly different, then a vet check up would be a good idea.  When cats are sick, a change in behavior can be a sign.  Just watch him closely.
