We just got home with the new puppy about an hour and a half ago. Cat introductions went well so far. Stumpy gave him head butts, Koko smacked his head, Scarlett is watching from the cat tree, Muddy / Sage / Dakota are sitting by him watching his closely.

We put his first collar on him (he hates it) and took him for his first walk outside - he peed (YEAH)!!!

Here's the first introductions - Scarlett, Sage and Koko circle him and Muddy is checking out the pee pad in the background.

Here's another of the little guy. He is more handsome than we remembered him to be when we saw him 2 weeks ago, and got to meet his mom today. She is smaller than we thought (about 38 pounds), so he might not be the really big boy that we suspected. He looks more golden retriever than anything, but his mom is definitely English or Irish Setter mixed in with retriever and who knows what else.

Aw, what a cute puppy. In that last picture, you can see the setter in him. Especially in his face and ears. I hope that the cats love him, he looks all warm and fuzzy and snuggly!

Momofmany what a coincidence!!!!

I just brought home my golden pup Bailey a few days ago!
Would love to know how you're getting on, how old is the pup?
Bailey is 6 and half weeks old and is very light blonde, he really adores the cats though i'm not sure the love is returned!

Thing is i don't know what the weather is like where you are but here in the UK we are in full blown winter, i sometimes think i must be mad when i'm standing out in the cold, damp and wet waiting for pup to go pee!!

LOL! Jameson will be 8 weeks old tomorrow. He's been in the house now for about 4-1/2 hours so it is too soon to tell much. He's had 2 walks outside (he LOVES the outside SMELLS), 2 naps and play with hubby and I.

Stumpy adores dogs, so he is rolling on his back trying to play with him. Muddy never met a dog, but being the studious boy that he is, has sat about 6 feet away the entire time watching him. Scarlett (the princess) is put off, and Koko pulled her normal "smack the newcomers" routine. Sage is trying to snuggle with him (he was raised with dogs), and Spanky and Oscar are terrified (they must have had dog trauma before they were dumped here).

Jameson went from a mom and 10 siblings plus 5 cats and about 4 other dogs to a new household of 14 cats today. I'd say that so far, he is adjusting very well.

btw....it hit 56 farenheit today, and same tomorrow so we have warm weather on our side for the time being. Supposed to get well below freezing over the weekend so we won't be happy about the walks every 2 hours by then. We're not nuts....we're just suckers for fuzzy faces!!

What an ADORABLE puppy!!! I'm sure the cats will get used to him very soon...they just need to figure out that he won't hurt them and that he is loved by you as well!

He's so cute! I love the picture of the cats watching him. He looks a lot like a Golden Retriever - I hope he has their disposition.

OK, we changed his name tonight. Jameson just wasn't working for him. We'd been talking to a lot of folks trying to get ideas on good names for him. Well tonight, we had some friends over for dinner and Sandi looked at him and said he looked like a Samson to her.

I said YES. Husband said YES. It is now official. Lots of cool nicknames come along with this:

Sammie
Sammiekins
The Samminator
Sambuca
Sama-rama-ding-dong
The Sam-meister
and of course, just Sam

He retains his last name of Dun Bheagan (pronounced "done beggin") for obvious reasons.

He is getting along GREAT with Sage and Dakota. Koko is starting to play with him - they played a game of chase with each other tonight(he chased her then she chased him back). She and Muddy slept with him last night. He is gaining confidence and harmony is settling in the house again.

He's adorable

All of my cats are so wary of Bailey, except for Munchkin who was brought up with 2 dogs.
Hope your housetraining is going ok, Bailey gets the idea most the time but at seven weeks he's bound to have accidents and if we dont keep a really close eye on him, then er... we're bound to find a little present

I can really see the retriever in Samson. They really are great dogs!

Samson is an absolute love! Sounds and looks like he has some good doggie genes: golden retriever/setter should produce a fairly easy-going, fun character, unless I miss my bet. Anyway, sounds as if things are developing as peacefully as can be expected with a whole mess o' fur kids (or ANY kids!) Congratulations!
