Monet is a very curious cat that likes to get into things, like most cats. But when he has his mind set on something.. nothing stops him.

1. I have to literally BUNGEE cord my trash can shut, AND put 2 bricks at the bottom of it. I have no room under my cabinets for trash.

2. I have to put child proof locks on every cabinet in the kitchen.

3. I had to put locks on my sliding closet doors- I went through 3 locks before finally drilling a hole and sticking a long screw into the closet doors to keep them from opening.

4. He broke the lock on my sliding screen door that leads to the porch. Had to replace it and child-proof the door.

5. He's figuring out how to open windows that slide to the side. I have to now put a piece of wood between the windows to prevent them from opening all the way. I am sure he's going to figure out how to move the wood.

6. I replaced child-proof locks on my fridge, three times.

7. I have to child-proof my fish tank cabinet (sure, fish food is a tempting smell!)

I'm still wondering what mess I'd come home to every day. or if my cat will finally make it outside.

Anyone else have a cat like this? I just want to strangle him sometimes!

Wow, sounds like you have a master problem - solver on your hands!  That is extreme for a cat, IMO.

How old is this cat?  Is he underweight (you mentioned many food places).  I'm wondering if perhaps he is hyperthyroid, hence hungry ALL the time.

he doesn't beg for food. only when he knows its meal time.. so I can't imagine him being hungry! He's 14 lbs of solid muscle. I am guessing he's bored when I am not at home, because he doesn't cause trouble when I am home.

my other cat is an angel.. she never makes trouble (Except for scratching my rug, which is solved by lots of floor scratchers!)

Wow, Monet sounds worse than Mogli and Jamie combined! Jamie used to unplug the fridge and open the freezer, plus play with the phones, DVD-player and printers. Mogli's specialties are opening cabinets to steal food and opening my husband's drawer or closet to drag out socks. According to Mogli, men's socks "belong" on the floor. :lol3:

Of COURSE socks belong on the floor, dont you know that? lol.

I didn't realize how bad Monet was until my neighbor who stopped by and took note that everything was locked up. She laughed so hard for 10 minutes straight. The moment when you realize that it's bad, lol

I wonder how many child-proof locks are sold to cat owners? We had a child-proof handle put on our freezer, and the first thing the guy who installed it asked was whether we had a cat. Most of the people who wanted them had furry children, not human ones! :lol3:

LOL, I am sure there are more people buying locks for their furry kids than actual human kids!

Monet is a master mind!  I can just see him rubbing his paws together and wondering what he can get into today, followed by an evil laugh, Bough, ha, ha, ha.......

....and all of that w/o thumbs!    How is he with interactive toys? anything to keep him busy while you're not home, like one of those donut rings that have a ball inside, things like that maybe?

He's so smart, I bet you could clicker train him.

And I'm sure the whole time, Casey is sitting there watching him, rolling her eyes, saying, "Boy are you gonna get in trouble!"
