I like other cat owners have spent a fortune on cat toys. There is always a new one come out that we have to have.

But in the future buy a box of straws, This morning l switched the cats me-ow on as Daisy was making a noise next to it.

Then l went into the kitchen and when l came back she was just pulling a straw out of my drink. As well as me having RSD l have to take so many piIls that l get so dry so always have a drink in front of me all the time.  Daisy managed to get the straw out and she played with it for 4 hours. She doesn't play more than an hour with her cat toys, she was loving it throwing it chewing it and even putting it under the cats me- ow so she could dig it out again and again.

Any one Else's cat  play with something else.

When its her birthday will wrap a big bow on a box of straws lol

I'll try that when I get home. My male is always starring at my straw when I drink. The only tow I recommend is that fishing line one. Even when I'm tired I just put the pole somewhere high and they keep playing with the lure.

empty toilet paper tubes are fun, as are milk caps.  My cats also love my pony tail holders especially the fuzzy ones.

My cats prefer pine cones and cicada to anything I've ever bought them. Fortunately we have plenty of both around here.

Empty toilet paper rolls and a ball of paper are Mowgli's favorite! It almost looks like we throw trash on the floor around here

Tony loves our "bag lady" - someplace where we put plastic bags. Our Rainbow kitty - Ali - loved oven mitts and dish towels. It just doesn't pay to spend lots of money on store bought cat toys -- oh and I agree about the toilet paper tubes- every kit loves that. Tony also loves to destroy any artificial plants -- I just finished cleaning up the debris from the living room floor where he destroyed one.

For the longest time, this thing was Pooper's favorite toy. It's a bunch of heavy duty zip-ties looped together. I guess as an adult now, Pooper thinks she is too dignified to play with anything other than rawhide mousies. :eyeroll2: I got the thing out earlier today to see if my roommate's new kitten would like it, but he's too small to use it safely. Maybe in a couple weeks, when he is bigger!

The ONLY plant that has ever survived in my home is now in danger and living in a plastic salad bowl on top of the fridge. Mowgli thought it was fun to dump it out and dig in the dirt and also does this with the plastic plant. (First kitten we have had the privilege of loving) we are leaning a lot !!!

Years ago, we used to have a large potted Ficus tree...until Frannie starting using it as a litter box. To make matters worse, when I finally had to throw it out, I found part of a chewed up tennis ball buried in the pot. I never knew if it was my dog or my sister's visiting beagle. I think it was the beagle.

I used to have a few small cacti in the house, thinking the tiny pots of dry soil and the spiky plants would be safe from the kitties. But no, Hiro pulled them all up and broke them to pieces.

My cat Yuki loves playing zip ties too! I don't wear he finds but he always hides them in the bathroom. Yuki also loves tissues, which is odd and kind of gross. He'll take them from the garbage and play with them and then leave them scattered around the house!

Our other cat Mark loves tin foil! If we go to put tin foil on anything he comes running and begs for a tin foil ball, he always wants to play fetch with them.

Our cats favs are Milk bottle lids and pipe cleaners. Our big boy Chief loves anything with a soft fury feel like the pipe cleaners have.

Loki loves biting on my fish air tubing. Not very nice of him and I've had to find ways to keep the air tubing and my plants away from him.

They have also used a plant of mine as a littler box and another as a bed. Now my plants have to sit/hang some were that cats cant get to or get a cage around them lol. My air tubing is run throw PVC pipe to the fish tanks.

Talking about Plants dry plant leaves are also a fun toy in my cats minds.

My cats also like playing with metal wire but that's not a good one for them to get there hands on.

My bf cane always turns in to a Loki toy also.

They also like the zip-ties.

My cats just don't seem picky about what is and isn't a toy.

O and can't forget a lot of cats fav toy the hair right off our heads if we have long hair lol.

Thanks to all for there replies all about what there cats play with. I think the kitties are trying to to tell us to stop being silly buying expensive things.

Your bit of wire just reminded me that l need to get some wire, l bought the big bubbles but when l opened them there was no wire to blow it through.

Years ago we had a shop were you could buy a yard of wire but now you have to think who is selling it now. if we had the wire coat hangers it would be great but there not not been sold so will have to put my my thinking hat on.

My cats love shopping bags (plastic and paper) and boxes. I cut holes in the plastic ones and cut the handles off so they don't get choked. I keep a small box for recycling in the kitchen so I don't have to go outside to toss every little thing. They knock that box over and steal bottle caps, toilet paper and paper towel rolls, even the plastic trays my contact lens come in. That kinda of stuff doesn't really harm them. It just makes messes for me to clean up. But they also like to steal rubber bands and twist ties which are not good toys for them at all.

My cat also loves empty toilet paper rolls and those circular plastics bands from soda bottles.

But the Cheese Chaser was definitely worth the money, and he plays with it regularly.

what is the cheese chaser?  I use the temptations mouse and the new friskies string treat thing, and they are always empty when I Get home so I know the cats play with them during the day.  Does the cheese chaser emit treats?

Hair ties, pens (only if I am using them. If they're just sitting there they are no fun.) Toilet paper rolls, pieces of dry food (he plays hockey all around the kitchen) and empty boxes

One of my cats loved to play with an emery board!  He would bat at it and carry it around.

He also has a soft blue ball that he likes, and we play a little game with it.  I'll leave it downstairs for him, and sometime in the middle of the night or when I'm at work he brings it upstairs and leaves it somewhere for me.

Jenny82, I can't paint my nails without one of my boys trying to steal my emery board.
