I am reading all of the post where people are telling others their cats are not a Korat.  Because the Korat is a rare bread does not mean all Korat breeders spay or nuder the kittens. All it takes is one Korat male to get out and mate with more than one DSH; and there you go mixed Korats are born.  In the secret life of cats females are known to mate with several males to eliminate interbreeding with the kittens.

However if your cat demonstrates any of the following traits it could very well be a Korat mix; or even a full breed. The truth is you cannot tell for sure without a DNA test on your cat.

Known as the cat with the 5 hearts; The head contains three of these heart-shapes 1) looking straight on at the Korat, you see the Valentine-shaped heart of the head  2) The second heart is found by looking down over the top of the Korat’s head 3)   the third heart associated with the head is the nose. 4) The fourth heart can be found in the muscular area of the chest when the cat is in a sitting position. 5) But the most commonly forgotten heart is the one inside the cat! As the Korat matures, the heart shapes become more prominent.  A Korat does not reach full maturity until the age of 4; the eyes will become the full color of bright green (peridot green) by the age of 4. They can also have a very narrow muzzle; which is not desirable by the breeders. In England they cross breed the Korat with Siamese and are sold as full breed as a Korat if it is the blue grey and Siamese if cat has the color points.

The Korat will also demonstrate chirping sounds when meowing; they do this mostly during play.

They are not a shy cat; they will greet your guest when they come into your home.

They are very observant and highly intelligent; they want to copy everything you do.  They will learn to turn on facets and appliances.

They are into to everything; and I mean everything; if they see you do it they want to try it. This comes from their high intelligence level.

The blue coat with silver tips can also be found on the Korat along with the faint tabby like stripes that eventually disappear with full maturity; it may not fully disappear on the tail. The most popular among the breeders is the strong silver tipped on the fur, but the truth is any blue DSH can also have this color; but not as strong as the Korat breed; the mixed breed will have this but to a lessor degree.

A cat can demonstrate a breed from many generations back.
