Hello,

I adopted a 10 week old kitten July 19th . She came with her first set of shots , dewormed , revolution. On Friday I took her to the vet because her tummy was bloated. I know they usually need to be dewormed twice is I figured it was worms. ( I never saw any worms) the vet gave me a dewormer and said she had a fever and was weak. He tested her for fiv ( she was negative) he then said she sounded congested so gave me clavaseptin. I'm concerned because I still have not seen any worms pass and her tummy is still bloated. She eats , drinks, has solid bowls. Today she started to also gag... Any suggestions on. Why her tummy is still bloated?
She does sleep a lot and I have a recheck apt with the vet Wednesday.

I would appreciate anyone's feedback.

Unfortunately I don't have any constructive information to add. I just hope everything turns out alright with your kitten.

Where did you adopt your  kitten from?

This article may help

[article="29716"]Identifying Common Ailments In Cats Adopted From Animal Shelters And Rescue Groups[/article]

When I adopted my first kitten it was from a foster rescue and he needed to see a vet within a week for a fever.  The vet gave him a shot and he was fine.

Our second cat came from a shelter and also became sick within a week.  She did a round of antibiotics and is now fine.

Thank you she is from a local rescue. I actually emailed them and told them about my situation and they were very short, said she was cleared by their  vet to be adopted. They think my vet is giving me false information and over charging me for things I do not need ( FIV test) ..... to me it is pretty clear she is not well.

I noticed her tummy was swollen when I adopted her but I figured it was just worms .. to me a pretty easy fix.

My main concern is that it maybe FIP .. her belly is pretty descended and swollen .....you can also feel her spine. Hopefully will get some answers tomorrow.

Let us know how it goes.

I'm surprised the rescue was so defensive.  When we adopted Eclipse that rescue gave us a month of vet care with them in case he got sick.  We spoke with the foster mom and she even made the appointed for us.

Ended up taking Rosie to the vet last night as she was having a hard time breathing. She was diagnosed with FIP ( fluid in her belly / lungs) and had to be put down.

Thanks for responding to me.... I am SO disappointed with this rescue. :(

Im so sorry to hear this!!!

But if it was her fate, so it was it...  The only is she got a good end.  Care and love, and when the hope was lost, also a merciful easy end...

RIP little Rosie!

Warm hugs!

I am so sorry to hear of this outcome. You must be devastated. I offer you the condolences of the Moderator team for your loss, and in accordance with TCS policy I will now close this thread out of respect. I hope that you will feel able to post a new thread for Rosie in the 'Crossing the Bridge' forum, where you can tell us all about her and other members can sympathise.
