What's the status here?  Did the corlopan help?

I don't know what to think. I guess it's very grim.

Her potassium levels have completely stabilized. Her creatinine levels can't even be tested anymore because they're above 20. I think there is a way but it's pointless I guess.

She actually looks better. I don't understand it. She stands up and walks around and wants to jump out of the cage. All 6 doctors that have seen her says they have never seen anything like that before and that she should barely be able to life her head up.

She still has not urinated at all. They have pretty much ruled out antifreeze. They say it looks more like she might have ate lilies.

As long as she looks so perky I'm not giving up hope though.

Thank you for the update!

I would not give up either! She's looking better and wanting to move around and her potassium level has stabilized, so I don't blame you for hanging in there!

Are they still giving her the expensive drug?

I'm hoping it kicks in and her kidneys begin functioning again. Will she eat cat food?

I'm really glad she's hanging in there and you and your wife still have hope!

yeah they are still giving her all the meds.

One thing they said is she is starting to become gelatinous (too much fluids). They are not giving her any fluids now except the medications though. They said she has a better chance to keep her on the meds.

Realistically with no kidney function she probably has a max of 2 days left, though. She will not eat anything.

Oh, that is sad.

Can they aspirate fluid from her body, or is that where the dialysis would come in if it weren't so expensive?

Have you asked if a steroid would help?

Are you allowed to hold her and pet her?

Poor baby! This is so sad!

It Is terribly sad.  I've been reading about Lily poisoning, and it definitely sounds like it could be that, based on what you have told us.  This is why, particularly around Easter time, we try to post warnings about Easter Lilies, just as a reminder

If her body is producing absolutely zero urine, then I guess that is bad news....really bad news.    I'm so sorry.

I'm debating if I should bring her home if she's still not better by tomorrow. I feel so sad for her to go in a cage like that. Maybe that is not fair though. Yes, I can visit her and pet her. We have been visiting about 3 times every day.

I think you would want to ask how painful her death would be at home. It would be wonderful if she could go home.

Does your vet perform in-home euthanasia?

She could go home and be put to sleep in her own environment in the next day or so. I am sure she would like to be out of that cage.

No matter what, make sure she's not suffering.

I'm still praying for a miracle!

Yes I think I will ask them about that tonight. Here is a picture of her and thank you for all the support.

She is just beautiful! And so sweet looking.

I'm sure she is very confused about what is going on.

Even if you took her home for just a few hours, or a night, and had to take her back for the final procedure, it might give her comfort.

Can they send you home with pain meds to take the edge off if you do bring her home?

It is an honor to provide as much support as we can.

Keep us updated as you can.

We're taking her home in the morning. It was a very hard decision. The vet feels like she has zero chance at home and 5% chance if we leave her there. I don't know if we made the wrong decision. So many hard decisions.

Well, zero to five percent isn't a big difference, so I think you made a good choice. At least your cat can have your love and the comfort of home before she passes.

What are your plans for pain control and eventual euthanasia? Unless her kidneys start up, which doesn't sound likely, she doesn't have much time and she will begin to suffer. I just want you guys to be prepared.

They said if she starts showing signs of seizures it's time so we are going to take her back in at that time.

That's a good approach. Are they sending you home with any meds, or do you not know yet?

Regardless, I hope you will enjoy some quality time with her while you can. You all deserve it.

Yes we have her day planned out. She loves to go outside and will get to lay down in her favorite spot. She also has sisters here and they are very close. I hope it brings her some peace.

So sorry to read about your beautiful kitty's illness.  Hoping for a miracle and that the news is better this morning.

She's home now. She immediately went to the water bowl and drank a ton of water. I called the vet and they said she would not drink any water at all while she was there, even when they tried to syringe it to her. The vet said that was very good news. She does not look good though, she is breathing very heavily. Anyway, she seems so much happier.

So happy to hear she is home!

Interesting about the water. I'll bet she was parched! Let's hope she goes to her litter box and tries to urinate.

Have they tried a steroid on her for her breathing? It won't cure her but it might buy her some time.

How are her sisters reacting to her?
