I am just going to pray that her kidneys begin to function with the help of this drug. I hope your cat's young age will work in her favor as well.

Is there a time frame in which the drug should work?

Yes I could really use some good new because it's nothing but bad so far. The vet is just acting like there is no hope.

She said they should know in about 8 hours. She also did say it may take more time to see if the antiobiotics are doing anything as well.

Grrr! It's too soon to give up hope!

It's easier to just put her down, but you hate to do that if you can possibly save her.

Have you called anyone for a second opinion in the meantime?

Here is a website that discussion potassium imbalances in regards to renal failure , both low and high:  http://www.felinecrf.org/potassium.htm  Scroll almost to the bottom for the high potassium info.  Interestingly enough, fluids is one thing to offset this, but it must be the RIGHT kind of fluids.

Well multiple doctors here have examined her, they all seem to be in agreement. She does seem to be barely wheezing now and making a loud sound when swallowing like fluid is gurgling

Oh, no, the fluid is getting into her lungs.

Have they started the corlopan? It's supposed to be a vasodilator. I hope your cat will not suffer either.

This must be so difficult for you. I am so sorry that you and your cat are in this situation.

My wife says she can't notice it though so maybe I'm just being paranoid

Hav they started the corlopan? You may want to ask the vet about what you are hearing.

I am so sorry. I hope it's not too little too late.

Can they remove any fluid through needle aspiration or give her a steroid to help her breathing while waiting to see if the corlopan works?

Her numbers continue to worsen every time they check them.

Oh dear. This is not good. What are you and your wife thinking at this point? Is there anything else they can do for the cat to relieve the fluid build up?

We just got the first good news we've had. She's still in very bad shape but over the last 8 hours her creatinine level dropped from 19 to 17 and her potassium has lowered as well. They say she doesn't really have fluid build up but she's still not urinating. Hopefully she continues this trend though.

I feel like it may be the antibiotics starting to work. I wonder if she may have just had a severe infection.

And now they just called me back and said they made a mistake and actually the creatinine went from 17 to 19 so she is still getting worse.

Oh, no. [emoji]128546[/emoji][emoji]128591[/emoji][emoji]128591[/emoji]

Sending prayers she turns around, but it does not sound real good.

But the potassium level--was that also a mistake?

I am still praying that your cat turns around. I guess someone read the results backwards?

How are things now? Has she stabilized at all?
