I ask before but I will ask again...

Sometime when I am asleep I will kick my feet out to move them and hit my cat.

Or this morning, my cat was biting my leg playing while I was asleep and I kicked my feet out instinctively while I was half asleep and it hit him. He didn't meow but I I think it may have hit him in the face or body.

Any input?

Maybe I should not let him sleep with me, because it only happens when I am asleep.

Yeah, but.....
Oh, oh....that  but  word......life experience has taught me that the  but  word usually indicates some kind of resistance or denial....
...that sucks, I like him to sleep with me.
Well then, 'seems to me you'll need to decide if this is going to be all about you and your needs.....or... the welfare and safety of your cat - surely you can  understand how an inadvertent kick could seriously injure that little cat.

That's my input for you.

Bit dramatic?

How hard are you kicking him?
I mean...is it that you stretch your legs out and they bump him and he jumps up and moves? Or...you kick hard in your sleep and are actually kicking the cat?

Cadbury will sometimes lay at the end of my bed and when I move, he gets up and either moves to another spot or leaves the bed cause I bump him. But, he isn't getting hurt.

If the cat can get on and off the bed on his own, and continues to place himself where he may be "kicked" then I don't imagine he is actually being hurt or really bothered. Why would he keep getting up there if he was truly being kicked every time?

I mean, how hard are you kicking the cat?  My cats sleep on the bed, and I'm sure that I've booted them in my sleep a few times, but it can't have been that traumatic to them cuz they know when it's bedtime, and they all congregate upstairs to get in bed every night!      I think their little feelings would be hurt if I started locking them out of the bedroom at night - and I know there would be plenty of crying and door-scratching!

But I guess that's the best option if you feel like you are really kicking the cat with some force

You probably aren't kicking him that hard if he keeps getting back into bed to go to sleep w/you every night, but I don't want my advice to be the cause of a cat getting kicked in the face

Can you convince the cat to sleep by your head? That way your legs can't reach to kick him . Or maybe you can buy a big ottoman or small table etc and place next to the bed with a throw blanket on it. This way he gets to still sleep with you, just not in the same bed.

I don't think you've actually put your cat at risk. There's a world of difference between setting out to kick a cat and knocking him in your sleep. I've lost count of the number of times I've tripped over Asha on my way upstairs, and she's never come to any harm. I've yet to meet a cat that won't either yelp or hit out if you actually do hurt them.

Remember - you're asleep, the cat is awake. He can see what you're doing and move if he feels he needs to.

I agree! I can't tell you how often my kittens get under my feet without my noticing and I "kick" them on accident. Even if your cat is asleep when you bump him or her, cats can go from zero to alert in an instant and get out of the way if in real danger. My kittens sleep with me and I know I'm not a still sleeper. Although they do have half a full size bed to move around on if they need to.
