Well it happened... My girl DudLeigh got out. I have 3 cats and she was the last in line to get fixed, and of course she escaped for around 3 hours when we let our dog out around 3am... Oi. She is on day 60 so I know she's close to popping them out. I'm pretty sure she has chosen my closet as her "nesting place" so I cleared it out and lined the floor with blankets and a box with towels in it. She will be a year old in about a month so I'm worried about her giving birth so young [emoji]128555[/emoji] im worried she might now be a great momma, she's still very much a kitten herself. I'm prepared to bottle feed if I absolutely need to... My first kitten was a rescue and was only 2 weeks old so I have that knowledge ....

And another thing, I'm wondering how my other 2 cats will react to the kittens? Should I worry? My husband and I both work so 24/7 supervision isn't possible [emoji]128542[/emoji]

It is safest to keep mom and the babies separated from the other cats by a closed door. It is better to be safe than sorry, and this also will eliminate any chance of their stressing mom out and allow her to focus on the babies.

Beyond that, we have a good collection of articles in the Cat Health section which you can access by scrolling up to the brown bar, clicking on Articles, and then choosing the Cat Health section and scrolling through the choices.  To make this super easy for you, I am copying the links regarding birth, delivery and newborns for you here.  After reading this information, let us know if you have any more questions.  And good luck with your approaching new arrivals.

My Prego kitty is on day 62 right now. She is still eating and resting. But I am a CNA and I'm gone for 48 hours straight starting tomorrow morning. Normally I wouldn't worry but this week my husband is also gone to the field! I'm freaking out. I don't want her to have them alone because what if there is a complication and I'm not here to help. There is no possible way for me to call out of work. I could take her with me to work, but wouldn't that be too much stress on her? She's already chosen a nesting spot here at home... My mom can only pop by 1 time each day to check but that leaves 23 hours of her being un checked [emoji]128542[/emoji] very worried momma here [emoji]128546[/emoji]

I'd not leave her alone. Or stress her by taking her away.
Delilah went into labour in the three hours I worked in a whole week! Typical!! I came home to find one dead, one alive, one lost under my bed she seemed to have forgotten about, and one stuck.
She needed assistance to remove the last dead kitten.

Its a real dilemma!   Whatever you do, isnt no good.   Do you have anyone else, whom is used with cats, and preferably, whom she knows and is at comfort with?

Because, having a stranger as cat sitter, isnt ideal either...

If not, I suspect the least bad solutiion is to let her be at home, with her prepared things, and you mom comining in changing food and the litter...

No one can come over for the 48 hours [emoji]128542[/emoji] and well crap then I'm screwed. Id almost rather stress her a little and bring her with me .. The two replies so far have just scared me more [emoji]128557[/emoji]

Would it be possible to board her at the vet or somewhere where there will be 24 hour supervision?

what did you hoped to hear?   Do YOU have something in mind?

Unless you did hoped we would say; oh, dont worry, just leave her, it will be OK.   Sure, with a little luck it could be OK.  But I for myself, I dont even leave my healthy residents a  whole 24 hours alone.   It not happened as yet.   I would never voluntarily leave alone a high preg on verge of delivering.  - It can go ok, often does, but sometimes its just only the owners presence which saves the day... Perhaps cutting off the cord or similiar.

So that is why I wrote its a dilemma.  If you cant help it, so you cant...  Its just to hope for the best and pray.   But if you do have any useful solution, forward with it!

Most cats labour just fine. But some need help. And you can never tell.
I wouldn't say its safe to leave her. How much do I regret working on Sunday. It was 12-3 and my kids and husband were home but noone thought shed give Birth middle of the day.

I would take her to work with you. Bring everything necessary to make her comfortable for those two days. At least you can check on her and comfort her. It's not home, but it is the next best and logical solution - and at least you are there and won't be as worried. I think it's good you have this as an option. And since she's 62 days, she may not go into labor until you're back home for a couple of days. Either way, you're with her! :)

Delilah, A CNA is a a certified nurse's assistant. Like the ones that work in nursing homes that take care of people. I'm a private CNA for one individual. And I'm gone for 48 hours because my resident needs around the clock care. I can't call in sick, even when I am sick (unless it's highly contagious.)

1st of all Stefanz- I never leave my cats unattended for 24 hours. My husband is rarely gone to the field, this week was just an exception (a crappy one because of timing.) so please don't try and make me sound like a bad mom to my fur babies. Thanks

And thank you sarthur :) but she ended up having her babies last night! 6 beautiful calicos. All went fine without my interference [emoji]128525[/emoji] I have my neighbor coming by 2 times a day along with my mom once a day so they will be fine. Can't wait to get home Saturday morning!!!

Aww! So sweet!

Isn't it funny how she almost knew you needed to be away and had them when you were home, and without complications at that (what a relief), so there would be nothing more to worry over?

I am SO happy for you! This could not have worked out better. I'm just tickled pink!

Six calicos! I love calicos. One of my favorite cats was a calico. Rescued her at 5 weeks old and she lived to be 21! I still miss her.

I know you can't wait to get home and enjoy your fur babies!

All the best to you :).

Aww thank you sarthur! [emoji]9786[/emoji]️ And I'm super excited to be a grandma. This girl isn't a rescue but my 1st calico is (found her on the highway at 2 weeks old) bottle fed her ... But once she got to be a couple months old she was bored and attacking is alllll the time so we decided to adopt a friend for her [emoji]128514[/emoji] I will post pictures in a few days. I don't wanna disturb momma and babies too much too soon [emoji]9786[/emoji]️ But they're all great so far. And 6 calicos blew my mind lol what are the odd of that since daddy was a tuxedo cat [emoji]128523[/emoji]

This pic is of Willow [emoji]9786[/emoji]️ DudLeigh's sister
