i've been feeding my 8 week old kitten dry kitten food and just leaving it out for him to help himself (which he eats a ton!) but today i decided to try out wet food and he absolutely loved it, but im not sure how much and how often i should give it to him? i was thinking half a can just twice a day, once in the morning and once at night.. does that sound about right or am i able to give him a whole can?

With wet food it is best that the kitten eats it fresh. So I would suggest just a quarter of a can per meal mixed in with dry food. Ideally you want your kitten to clean the bowl. If he/she goes to sleep and leaves food, put it in the refrigerator/make smaller portion next time.

In a day he/she will probably eat 4-6 times a day. As they get older they'll eat larger meals 2-3 times a day.

If you have to leave your kitten unattended for 8+ hours I would still only feed him 1/4 wet/dry food and leave the dry food out to tie him/her over until you get home.

My current 5 kittens+mama eat 1 can wet+dry a meal. Mama makes sure to clean each of the kittens bowls. :)

Kittens need to eat as much as they want because their growing bodies need all that food. You can't overfeed a kitten. Half a 3 oz can just twice a day is not enough unless you have dry food out as well. Since canned food is much better for cats, I suggest trying to feed more of that and less dry. An entire 3 oz can three or four times a day with a small measured amount of dry food (1/2 cup or less) would be better. If you find that your kitten leaves too much canned food in the bowl and won't touch it later, adjust the amount of food next time.

So I would suggest just a quarter of a can per meal mixed in with dry food.
If the kitten will eat the canned and dry food mixed together right away, that is fine. But don't leave the mixture sitting out all day. Harmful bacteria can grow in the food. Dry food is not meant to be moistened in any way. Any dry food should be thrown away at the end of the day because cat saliva gets all over the food and bowl and saliva naturally has bacteria in it.

There are different types of dry food. The one I feed my kittens is below. The kibble is very small and according the PetSupermaket clerk, its the best for growing kitties.

I personally call it Kitty Krack cause both mama and my adult male stopped eating any of my other food once they tasted this thing.

I mix this kibble with wet food and let everyone eat it.
