Hello! I am debating with my husand if our last foster kitten (now our adopted kitten) will be long haired or short haired.

His litter was rescued from a local neighborhood where they were having an "event" in which all of the feral cats were rounded up and there were pit bulls waiting :( so we took in 3 foster kittens and they turned from feral kittens to lovely domesticated kittens.

I am told his mother is short haired. His siblings all had very bushy tails and lots of longer hairs that grew past their shorter coats.

So I am torn because he does have those longer hairs but not as much as his siblings. He has very long hairs behind his ears and his tail is bushy at the base and not as thick at the end (still pretty bushy but it is tapered)

And without further ado pictures!!

I am hoping he will be long haired but obviously we will love him no matter what.

Oh and a picture of him and his new bff (aka our 6 year old tabby)

Thoughts? Thanks in advance!!

Hi and welcome to the site :wavey:

What a little beauty :heart3:

I think he needs a couple more weeks of growing before you can tell for sure. But, I think he might turn out to be a semi longhair. A bit like the type of coat the Turkish Van cat breed have. They have slightly shorter hair on body with longer hair on the tail and around the neck. You might need to check out some Turkish Van pics to understand exactly what I mean. :D

Gorgeous boy with beautiful eyes

Welcome to TCS!  What a little cutie!  I don't know  the answer to your question about long vs medium vs short hair but just wanted to say what angels you and your husband are to rescue these three kitties from the "event" you describe.  It really makes me sick to think of it but there is happiness in knowing your three are okay and in a loving home.  We'd love to see pictures of all three.  What are their names?

Ooooh the Turkish van cats are beautiful and I can see a similarity with the kittens and my little guy!

We fostered through a great agency. Initially we were going to foster one and then we ended up with 3 :)

This is a picture of the three siblings. As you can see the one cat has two different color eyes. Adorable!

Our little guy is Romeo (he is a total sweetheart and the ladies love him :)). The other all white boy we named Georgie and the girl (the tabby) we named holly. I won the right to name them after a heated uno game lol

He is joined by his new sister penny (calico 8 years old) and Cecil (tabby 6 years old)
