She's adorable!  I would allow her to do what she wants.  Cats are pretty good at self limiting their activity if they're not feeling well.  I would've picked her up and held her and let her fall asleep in my arms.  Her following you around means she's adopted you as her human, she knows you love her, and she's thankful for your care.

Mega :vibes: for little Zoey! She sounds like a little fighter who's getting the best care possible. Her weight is in her favor, too, even though 3 lbs. sounds so little. We've got 3 little ones at the shelter with severe URIs and giardia, and the biggest is 1.5 lbs. They're holding their own, so there's lots of hope for Zoey.

The a/d is made by Hills. It's pate that can be made soupier with either boiled, (luke)warm water or kitten milk. Most cats find it very palatable, so it helps keep or get their weight up.

We made it through another night. [emoji]128077[/emoji][emoji]127995[/emoji] Zoey only coughed 3 times but they were no where near the coughs from earlier this week. And she seemed to recover from them much quicker. Today will be her first day at home all day. I'm going to watch her like a hawk to make sure she eats and drinks. Hopefully we won't have any issues and we can celebrate success each day. [emoji]128522[/emoji] I'll call my vet about the a/D food this morning. I wonder if they have it in dry food as Zoey is not a fan of anything wet. I will everyone posted on how today goes. Thank you for your help! [emoji]128591[/emoji][emoji]127995[/emoji]

When our kitten was sick she often wanted to be cuddled while she slept. She would walk across the room and come follow me until I would put her on my lap. They may like the warmth of a living being or just the human contact, i'm not sure. Really hope that she continues feeling better.

Whisker-kisses, hugs, and get-well thoughts to Zoey from Angel, Jasper Jones, and their Mom! Kittens can be astonishingly tough. Don't lose hope!

Zoey spent the day at home today and seems do be doing ok. We went to the vet for a temp check and meds and unfortunately she still has a fever. Hovering around 103. She's coughed three times so far today but most are only slight coughs and she seems to recover quickly. Her breathing is still elevated however she doesn't appear to be gasping for air. I did pick up some a/D this morning and you guys were right...she loved it!! She eats about an 1/8th at a time, but snacks on dry food all day. As of this morning she gained 3 ounces and now weighs 3.6lbs. [emoji]128522[/emoji] At this point we're taking it one day at a time. [emoji]128591[/emoji][emoji]127995[/emoji]

On a different note, I decided to call the humane society where we adopted Zoey to let them know about her condition and found out she has a brother. [emoji]128522[/emoji] They told me that her brother has a cold and is being treated with doxycycline. I guess what they say about infections spreading through shelters is so true.

So just when I thought Zoey was taking "kitten steps" forward, it seems she's taken a "cat leap" backwards.  She slept most of last night and only slightly coughed 2x.  She ate, drank and used the litter box normally all day yesterday.  This morning she looked a little lethargic, didn't purr however she did eat and drink a small amount.  She's no longer interested in the a/d canned food but is still eating the kibble (yes, even the vet thought that was strange that she doesn't like wet food). I took Zoey to the vet this morning for her medicine dose and temp check. The vet said her lungs sounded better and her weight was 3.55lb (only down from 3.6lbs yesterday).  Unfortunately her fever went up the highest its been since this all started...it was 104!  They gave her sub-q fluids and talked to me about changing her meds to Orbax or marbofloxacin plus the Clavamox. Marbofloxacin showed sensitive on her culture report for all three infection, however I don't see orbifloxacin listed.

The explained to me the side effects of these drugs on a developing kitten, although rare, they can occur.  I'm so nervous about the long term effect they drugs may have on her joints and cartilage. Has anyone had experience with these meds in a 3mo old kitten? Is the drug use worth the potential risk? I'm taking Zoey back to the vet this afternoon and they are either going to keep her on Clavamox and azithromycin or switch her to Clavamox and marbofloxacin.

Here's the crazy part to all this...once we got home, Zoey took a short little catnap and woke up truly acting like a kitten.
She's hasn't had this kind of energy since we saw her at the shelter.  She's walking around, jumping on the furniture, playing with the blanket I put down for her...basically getting into everything!  YEAH!! She found her cat toys that "I thought" I picked up earlier this week. An now she's laying at the window sill watching the excitement outside. I'm so happy to see her playful but I'm worried that she will over exert the little energy she has. Her respiratory rate is still elevate so I don't want her breathing too hard. What I don't understand is how she looks, acts and seems to be doing much better, but her fever read 104. I thought a fever was a bad thing and a definite sign of illness? Her clinical disposition clearly is not reflecting her medical/lab readings.  If the meds we have her on are actually working than I don't know if I showed switch her to something more powerful at her size. Any thoughts or suggestions?

I am a bit worried about her fever, it is not good for a younger kitten to have that high of a fever. One of my adult had that high of a fever and my Vet was concerned. Has the vet tried Baytril? It is tablet form but that is what they gave my kitty to get his fever down, he did not have the symptoms your kitten is having, his was completely different. I'd say the main thing is getting the fever down and getting her lungs cleared from this infection. By any chance, can Zoey see a cat specialist?  A fever shows that the cats immune system has mounted a response against some infection and by doing so the body raises its temperature to help kill off the infection but sometimes it can get too high and be bad for the cat.  I think you should try to keep her calm, and resting and not let her play too much as she might overexcite herself. Have you had a chance to try the bone broth?
