I just adopted an 11 week old girl kitten on Thursday from an organization that traps cats and spays them. This kitten's mom was an outside cat and the kittens were born inside and stayed with a foster mom. The foster mom rescheduled with my husband 3 times in a week saying one kitten has coccidia and she was getting them all tested and treated which is fine with me, better safe than sorry. Well she said she didn't suspect ours having it so we could pick her up the next day. It was rescheduled once again because the lady that ran the place got her stool tested and it was negative. We picked her up Thursday and she told us she checked her for fleas and said she had none. She's the runt of the litter and she told us the foster mom only fed her one tablespoons of wet kitten food a day. We brought her home and within a few hours I noticed she had worms. I weighed her and she is only 1.27 pounds but she's ate a ton since we've brought her home. I noticed a flea on her tonight. I feel maybe this kitten wasn't watched so closely to have these two things. My husband is calling the vet Monday about taking her in or just picking up medicine. I feel worried about her being such a low weight with the worms. I know they can take her nutrients. Will she be okay until Monday??

Thank you! :)

Yes, she will surely be OK to monday.   Just have her in one room, so you dont risk to infest the whole flat with fleas.   Also, fleas come from eggs and larvaes, so its fully possible its as they told you, they didnt saw any adult fleas...

I agree with you, good and more food is needed here.

A shal ask a mod to move this your post to te kitten and pregs forum...

Please continue to report.

Good luck!

Btw, are you able to get raw goat milk?  Useful in many cases.   It may be pricey, if you dont know some goat farmer, if if its an option for you, it is usually worth it.

Thank you for replying! :) I am glad she will be okay until then. I've had her in our spare room since Thursday since we have an older cat and I've been waiting for an introduction. So glad I did that now!

We do live in the country. I will see if I can find any. :)

If you have switched her food from what she had been eating that will happen. Give her some canned pumpkin mixed in with her regular food. This usually helps with diarrhea.

Also, she needs to stay hydrated, so mix pedialyte with powdered KMR and see if she will drink it.

Hopefully, the diarrhea will disappear soon.

Thank you! :) I keep checking the litter box. It seems she's only had the runny poop once. She's drinking water.

Ok. That's not too bad. Can't hurt to have a can of pumpkin in the pantry either way! :)
