I went over to my sister in laws house today to help her paint and when I got back I noticed a very small amount of a yellow/brown discharge on Radar. She's been asleep about 90% of the day according to my husband and she just wants to lay by me right now. Does the discharge mean she's getting closer to labor? Or am I just getting my hopes up :p

Discharge is usually seen when they are very close to labor - within 24-48 hours actually.

Let us know as you notice other signs.

It looks a bit swollen and open compared to before. She's laying on me and purring but her breathing is kind of fast.

She also has been trying to burrow into this extra fouton mattress we have. It's folded over on top of itself and she keeps trying to crawl inside of it.

She's in labor! Can you take her to the nest you have set up for her and sit with her there?

She got off of me and is laying stretched out in front of it now. Her breathing has slowed a bit and I'm hoping it's not another false alarm. Her belly and teats were hanging from what I could see when she was walking.

No, it should not be a false alarm. In stage one labor there can be pauses between contractions. It could be hours though, or it could go quickly. It's hard to know.

I'm going to sleep in the living room with her tonight if she doesn't have any babies before it gets too late.

I think that's a good idea. The babies should come tonight or tomorrow, but cats are funny. They can sometimes stall their labor.

Which time zone are you in?

Mountain standard time. It's 8:00

She's grooming herself, heavy breathing still, and her tummy is hard.

I'm on Eastern, so it's 10-ish. I'll be around for awhile. She is definitely laboring.

She keeps trying to use the litter box and it's not going anything. Are those contractions?

Maybe, but she probably feels a need to empty her bladder or bowels - unless she's trying to push already. Many pregnant cats need to empty their systems before giving birth.

I think she may be emptying her bladder then. She keeps trying to hide under the kitchen sink too. I do NOT want the kittens under there there was a mold issue before we moved in and I'm not sure if it was ever fixed.
