Just an update.. The morning after my last post was a very tramatic morning, i just happend to wake up earlier than usual to the sound of kittens but my cat was locked out of my room amd i have no idea how, i ran into my living room and there she was infront of the front door with three babies infront of her but she was terrified of them and was just watching them, then i look anout 10 feet away from her and theres a dead kitten in the middle of the floor, she had cleaned it off and I believe it was alive but it was so cold that it didnt make it, i grabbed the other three and ran to her nest i made her and they were all so cold too, she ran after me and i tried so hard to warm them all and dry them off, she didnt eat any placentas so they were all still attached but i cut them and rubbed them with small towels and put a heating pad under the nest, one kitten in particular i was afraid would not make it, it was colder than the rest.. But we were finally out of the woods and they were all nursing and mama cat was happy, and then she gave birth to another who had some fluid in his lungs but i rubbed him and kept wiping bubbles from his nose and got him to starrt making noise and everything was okay, i jusy cant help but think that if i could have got to her sooner then i could have saved them all, i feel terrible. But now we have the issue of fleas, the babies have then pretty bad and i pick them off whenever i see them but mama has them so i cant stop it, we are bombing the house this weekend and taking babies and mama out of the house dor a couple hours.. Are there any physical signs of anemia in kittens?

Ok, first of all do not bomb your house and take the mama cat and kittens out. This is not a good time for that.

You need to put a tube of Advantage on your mama cat asap. You'll need to buy a can of flea spray for carpets and furniture and spray this everywhere on the same day you put the Advantage on mom.

You'll then need to vacuum everywhere and empty the vacuum into a bag and tie it up and take it out. Wash all linens on beds, and change the linens in your cat's nest.

This should begin to get the infestation under control. You may need to repeat the entire process in a couple of weeks.

Do not spray anywhere near the newborn kittens.

Nice work on saving and warming the babies.

Are they all latching and nursing well? Have you weighed them to see if they are gaining weight? This is the best way to know if they are thriving.

Okay i will wait a while to bomb, i do have the flea spray and I sprayed everywhere and have been vacuuming constantly since a couple weeks before they came. I do not have a scale but they are definitely thriving, they grow more and more each day and every time i check on them they are eating without a problem, mama cat never leaves them, i have her food and litter in my room and she does what she needs to do and then goes right back to them, im watching her go one by one right now making them all go potty, its crazy how she knows which ine she already did, we have been putting flea medicine on her but it doesnt work, i read that fleas are so bad this year they are immune to the medicines, maybe a myth but nothing has worked so far

Lethargy and not eating. This doesn't appear to be happening right now.

What flea medicine have you used on the mama?

Have you tried Advantage?

Some of the cheaper products do not work. Advantage works.

You can get rid of the fleas, but the cat should not go out. Maybe you need to get your yard sprayed too. Do you have any other pets bringing fleas in?

How old is the other young cat? You'll need to get this cat spayed or neutered in the meantime too!

This cat is old enough to go into heat and get pregnant any day now, so please do not let her outside or you will have yet another pregnant cat on your hands and she is too young to be a good mom. Please get her spayed now!
