We had 2 litters of kittens 6 weeks ago. Beautiful chinchilla Persians. All of them are doing well, and seem healthy and playful. One of the litters (2 kittens) still only wants to nurse from Mamma. One of the 2 will drink goat milk. The other won't even think about it, even when I put him next to it. She licks a little bit of Goat yogurt. Any suggestions on how to get her to want to eat/drink something. The Mamma doesn't want to nurse much anymore as she just came in heat.
Thanks and feeling desperate....Lisa

Now, goats milk is an excellent alternative food, so nothing wrong with this.  Even if the raw may be rather costly, friendly forumites tells me.

Ad thus, plain full fat goats youghurt  OK too.

If you get desperate, mom not nursing and the kittens not eating as yet, you may of course forcefeed with a syringe.  Because they will probably not take bottle, as they are used to moms teats.

Had you tried with having some liquid food on your finger, and let them lick / nurse of your finger?

Or tried to smear some food on moms teats? To get them used to the taste.

You know surely being a breeder as I presume you are, the standard, you have their food in a shallow plate, and in the beginning they more or less wading through the food...    Seeing mom, and the other kittens from the other litter,  are good examples, and helps a lot.

What to entice with.  Minced meat is a classics.  Wet food of paté type.  Human baby food, for example Gerber, the unflavored chicken and turkey types.

Some ideas, you may come on others.

In the beginning, to get them comfortable and entusiastic with the idea of eating themselves, it may be more important they DO eat, than the nourishment is perfect.
