We were told when we adopted her that they think she is about 10 or 11 weeks the last week of June.

I normally just clean the litter box and don't pay attention, but have been sleeping in her room since she sleeps with DD and DD is not home . This means I get a front row sseat to her toilet Activity. It seems super soft, almost non formed. For an adult cat I'd be concerned but I don't know if this is normal or not for a kitten.

When did you adopt her, and are you feeding her the same thing that she was eating prior to the adoption?

Did you have her checked for parasites upon adoption, or did whoever you adopted her from have her checked prior?

Many, many kittens have parasites which cause diarrhea or soft stools, and also just a change in foods can cause it in a kitten.

She was checked for parasites. We adopted her the last week of June (Monday?) They did deworm her with her spay.

I'm not sure what they were feeding her other than soft food mixed with kitten food, but not the brand. I have been changing food though trying to find one in my price range with a lower grain count. There doesn't seem to be much other than kitten chow or Friskies kitten for hard food and so far friskies soft to mix with around here .

If it's food adjustment will she adapt?

In spite of the bowel issue she seems more alert and playful every day. She's even interacting with my older cat trying to engage him. So she's not acting sick if that makes sense .

Deworming often takes more than just ONE application.  Did they not send any more doses home with you?

Try not to switch up the dry food too much.  Just stick with one or the other.  It's switching dry food that can upset their tummies.  Switching wet shouldn't cause too much of an issue, unless you give her something that is too rich, but it you're just feeding Friskies wet, you should be ok.  That wet food is KITTEN food, right?  It's best to stick with Kitten or "all stages" food when they are this small for the time being.

I've been watching this thread and thinking about my reply.  I think the best course of action is to get her to the vet to rule out parasites.  Due to the life cycle of parasites, it often takes two or 3 treatments before the parasites are completely eradicated.  I wouldn't change dry food as changing that too quickly can cause tummy upset and loose stools.  You can change wet food a lot easier than dry.  At this stage, I would also recommend she be on both a high quality canned kitten food as well as have access to dry crunchies at all times.  If the fecal test comes back negative for parasites, then it's most likely the food.  However, if it comes back negative and you continue having soft, smelly poops, then she might need to be tested for giardia and/or t. foetus.  Those require a special test.

Thanks. I don't see anything suspicious in her stool like my other cats had when I got them, but a fecal sample to the vet is an easy thing to do. It's definitely a change. Her stool was formed before and now it's little blobs .
