Hi everyone... I am new here.

So we moved to a house in NC. I ended up feeding this tuxedo cat... after a few months of living in that house, we had to move again. It was right when the summer started. I got really attached to him, so took him with us. He is my first cat... and is usually pretty easy going. I got a little puppy around the same time.. I am now worrying about rabies because he was a 100% outdoor cat previously. The puppy still doesn't have his rabies vaccine because the vet wanted to wait, but I am bringing him in tomorrow to have them done. What if my cat transferred rabies to my puppy and he is incubating it?  What if my cat has rabies? What if I am incubating rabies from my cat?? I feel like my world literally just turned over...

He is pretty restless tonight. He won't calm down unless I am up and he is tearing up the rug. What can I do? I love them so much!!

Hello , Welcome to TCS ..

The only thing I can suggest is that you bring your cat to the Vet as well .. Tell them your concerns about Rabies .

Welcome to TCS!
it was so kind of you to take in this cat and give him a home.  Cats are very sensitive to their person's emotions so the fact that you are so anxious might explain some of his restless behavior.  Anyway, a little restlessness is nothing to worry about - it's quite natural.  Scratching at rugs is also very common - do you have a scratching post for him?  That should help.

Has he been to the vet and gotten his rabies shots yet?  if not, he really needs to go and since you are taking your puppy today, this is a good time to take him.  Perhaps the vet can offer you some reassurance.  Please let us know how it goes.  And we would love to see some pictures of your boy.  What is his name?

Thank you both for the replies! :) This is Miles... I will take him today as well... before I committed to him, I took him to the vet... and that's when he got his shots. I never thought about the nervousness! I guess that can kind of explain it... yes, he does have a scratch post but I've only seen him scratch it a few times. I will keep you updated after the visit... The bonds I've created with them are amazing!

Miles is adorable with that bow.   He has such love in his eyes, it's really sweet.  If he has already had his rabies shots, it is extremely unlikely that he has transmitted rabies to your puppy.  Good luck at the vet!
