Please help!
My cat Mizzy gave birth to 5 kittens and not everything went well.
I was present at birth and helped her with the kittens, sadly one was stiff during birth.
And four of them came feet first and one of them the placenta was already open!
After most of the hassle one was gone and the others seemed slow.
(But yes all the placenta's are out and Mizzy chewed on a few of them. she's not bleeding too much everything seems normal just like last time.)

After the first 24 hours 2 kittens passed away, one of them was very weak and very small compared to its siblings and slow very slow. Sadly i was already expecting it to pass away, But one of the healthier ones also passed away which made me very worried! it must have been recent because none of their lifeless bodies were stiff. (i checked regularly 2~4 hours).
Now it has been more then 48 hours and another one passed away this leaves me with only one kitten left.
And no this isn't the first time she has kittens, the last time we had 6 very healthy kittens.

This time its a completely different story,
Obviously i have considered if they might have different blood types and well i simply do not know. (my cat is free to come and go pretty much and we live a cat filled neighborhood with all sorts).

And yes they are close to a portable heater and i made sure its not too warm or cold.

However what i have to add is this kitten has a very loud scream and is very active compared to all the other kittens.
I thought they were just full of milk and wanted to sleep all the time.
Now i am worried that after googling they might actually have different blood types.

What i want know is that if i change it now to powered milk and start feeding it... will it increase the chances of survival? or would that be just plain wrong?
And if so, i live in Europe any brands i should be looking for in particular?

from the description i gave so far (you can always ask for more) can anyone please explain what just happened to me?
I'm confused and i haven't slept for several days i am constantly present or keeping my eyes peeled at her the "lucky" sole survivor is at least active and if mom moves for only a minute it screams like mad.
so it "seems" okay but i'm not convinced and would like some feedback what is best to do and if not it might be already too late :(.

Just to add, it is Day 4 now so everything happened in the last 3 days the kitten is still active and defiantly drinking milk.
*(i don't know how to edit posts new here as you can see seeking information.)*

I think and hope, what was happening has happened already, and the survivor should make it now.  Unless this with screaming - is he still screaming whether its needed or not?

Screaming in protest to a moving mom is one, but screaming the whole time, often isnt good....

I too though it may be the blood difference between mom and the tom.  Im no expert on this, just heard it happens with cats too, although not so often as with humans.

It could also be some genetical fault.  Or even a bacteria infection in the vomb.

IF you want to change to some kmr.

If you can get RAW goat milk, its probably the best.  Bottled full fat goat milk works, but not as excellent.

Of the kmr brands,  that made by PetAg, called for KMR, in powder, is probably the best.

Royal Canin  makes a good brand for kittens, too.   (dont mix up with their "kitty milk", which is a treat.).

British GNC is prob OK, its also based on goat milk...

There are also other brands, more or less OK.

Also, do weigh that kitten every day, to see if it gains.  It shall gain at least 10+ grammes every day.  If the kitten born as a tiny one, its allowed to gain somewhat less.

This knowledge will help you to know if supplementing is necessary, and what to wait...

Please come forward with reports, and further questions.

Also, writing down your report and quesstions, makes often your own thoughs does claryfy....

Good luck!

If the kitten is already nursing well with mom, and she allows it to nurse frequently, there is no need to supplement. This kitten sounds active and healthy.

By weighing the kitten daily you will know if it is gaining. It should gain 6-10 grams per day, and more is always better.

KMR by PetAg, the powdered kind, is recommended if you would like to have some in the house. Mom can drink a dish of it daily herself. But full fat goat's milk is also good for mom and kittens too if you can find it.

Good luck and I hope your kitten continues to thrive! :)

She's doing fine.
Thanks for all the information! much appreciated, we decided to call her Lucky.
after weigh her couple of times she went from 81 to 93 to 104, so she's well on her way to become big and strong.
