I'm glad surgery went well, but why are they keeping her for three nights? Is this a precaution due to the pyometra? Normal spays are just an overnight visit.

Bc it was more complex than usual and she is very fragile right now she still had a lot of the infection in her uterus and took longer than expected. It's a precaution I suppose. We would rather her stay and be in the clear to come home as they are other cats who are fixed yes.

That's what I thought. I am glad they are taking precautions. Thank goodness she has been spayed to get rid of the remaining infection.

Let us know how she is on Friday. Poor girl has been through so much.

She will sleep a lot, and hopefully they will give her pain meds and probably antibiotics.

Can you call to check on her tomorrow?

When the vet kept our then kitten overnight and the next day we were allowed to visit.  We brought him his favorite blanket and his stuffed bunny.  It got him more room to lie in and a fresh litter box.  We didn't take him out, they offered us a room to use, but we were able to pet and  comfort him until he fell asleep.

I guess I missed something on the surgery. Was this one of your other cats or your friends cat that you adopted.

The cat who had the surgery is her uncle's cat.  We thought she was full term and starting labor and pus started leaking.

This member's original thread is about her in-laws' cat who has pyometra. That is the cat having spay surgery in this thread.

However, this thread was started for her friend's cat who she has adopted but isn't sure yet if she's pregnant.

Now the two are co-mingled. It could be confusing if you didn't follow the original thread.

Yes sorry about the confusion I'm not good at making threads and got two stories in one. My mother in law is visiting her after breakfast. I have 3 kids and my husband is at work so I'm not taking them w me. That's ebony. Her name. And midnight is my friends/ neighbors cat we took in our home. I'm assuming it will be another week atleast until she shows anything if tomorrow is going to be a week mark when she got out. She still hasn't gone into heat yet again so it's a waiting game and I'm not the one who likes to wait haha

And I did call this morning she is on pain meds and doing well and sleeping. They said she was meowing a lot so I know she's probably all confused to where she is and what not

Aww - poor baby. She'll need the pain meds and extra sleep.

Can you call later to see if she's started eating food?

I'm sure she will be fine, just tired and sore. It took my cat about 3 days to get back to her normal self following her spay. She was lactating and had just come down from her first post-pregnancy heat, though they let me bring her home the same afternoon.

I think you won't know about Midnight's pregnancy for about two more weeks really.

Let us know how Ebony is later if you get to go visit her! :)

Thanks!!! She's eaten a couple bites of wet food the piglet she is but threw it up. She's still sleepy. Better for her to be there the couple days bc her surgery and they have other cats and she needs to heal. And yes I know it'll be couple weeks w midnight. Have a busy month coming up my sister is coming from California and she's getting married end of the month so lots of last minute preps gonna go by quick.

Probably upset tummy from anesthesia and meds. She'll be okay!

It sounds like you have a very exciting time ahead of you! :)

Oh and about midnight I was laying w her and rubbing her belly and was looking at her teats as they are called I think. So I squeezed one gently and clear stuff came out only a little but they haven't gotten big yet. Does that mean she's definitely pregnant?

That is awesome that Ebony is home from her spay surgery following pyometra. How is she doing?

Midnight - I think a more reliable sign will be when her nipples pink up. Milk doesn't usually come in until closer to delivery or just after. Be patient :).
