I don't get it so this is a friend of mine her cat was in heat and accidentally got out for the first time they got her back 12 hours later and she's still in heat. I for sure thought she would be pregnant. I guess they got lucky?

Are you sure she isnt preg?   How long ago was it?

I mean, the heat does NOT end immediately after a mating. It can proceed even several days....

IF she was outside while in heat, she surely mated.   If they dont wish to have a litter, its still time to spay.  The vet probably wont even notice she is technically preg.

BUT it must be done asap now.   If you dont want any troubles.

Spaying may be done later too, but its unpleasant, and most people do hesitate.

Good luck!

Female cats can get impregnated by different males over a couple of days.  That is why some kittens are born days apart.

She was outside yesterday for 12 hours 11am to 12 am.. And she was in heat and I went over earlier and she is still definitely in heat
OK, so if you DO wants a litter of kittens, congrats, and prepare yourself, you have about 65 days to go.

If you dont want kittens, or are happy with fostering kittens cooperating with some shelter - you do make an appointment with your vet as soon her heat is over.

It is possible to spay while in heat, but its more difficult, and thus, more risky if the vet isnt very skilled.

Your friend's cat may still be in heat but it does not mean she did not mate when she got out. The cat should be spayed regardless!

Ok so please don't judge but my friend can't afford to get her cat fixed right now... So she's giving me the cat considering she might be pregnant. I'm not getting her spayed until after and will find great families for the babies. I lost my cat 2 months ago to cancer and feel empty wo her now and this brings me joy to take her in and help. My friend gave up all rights to her cat so she is mine now. I hope I can get the support if I need it seems everyone is great and yes I will get her spayed after the kittens even tho I don't plan on letting her out. And someone told me they can get the kitten fixed for a very good price for their new homes. Thank you!!!
Oh and to update its too soon to even tell if she is pregnant but if she was in heat when she got out and there was no evidence of her mating although she isn't in heat now and she was only in heat for a few days before she got out. So my assumption she is and I guess we will tell in a couple weeks of her nipples pink up. My family and kids are very excited for this and hope I get some support on here thanks again

My cat who was a tabby brown passed away last month from cancer previous to that she had 4 kittens which 2 my mom in law kept. The one with pyometra is having surgery next week. There are no other kittens maybe confusing me w someone else. Scary bc the one I took in is all black as well

This was my Bella that passed away
She looks very sweet and content in this photo.  You can put up a tribute to her in the Rainbow Bridge forum if you want.

I can tell you're going to provide a good loving home to your new roomie and future roomettes.  Come back with questions or comments.

She wasn't always an out door cat but she loved it and always stayed on our property and hung out like a dog hehe!! And of course she was spayed after that litter of kittens.

Aww. I did confuse you momentarily - sorry! :)

I'm sorry about your kitty who had cancer.

I think taking in your friend's cat is a very kind act on your part. As long as you get her spayed and find good homes for the kittens it should work out.

I assume this is your friend's cat who let it out for about 10-12 hours recently? The cat will almost certainly be pregnant. Cats in heat go out specifically to mate, and toms find them very easily.

Like you said, you'll know when the nipples pink up, which is around day 21.

How is she adjusting in the meantime?
