Marble,my boyfriend's tortie manx cat is quite small normally when she's not pregnant. Her belly is very large now since he came to visit his parents in Missouri with her and also to come get me as I'd decided to move in with him in Florida. He was visiting from May 28th to June 6th, at which during this time, Marble had stayed outside since she originally had been an outside cat.she was not spayed because his family thought she was too old to have it done. I told his mother and him that it wasn't necessarily true and there's no telling how old she actually is. We didn't initially think she was pregnant so there was no concern during the big move.
However, about a week into being home, we noticed she had started eating a lot more than usual. My boyfriend told me that she's never done that with him before. I decided to monitor her habits for a few more weeks and sure enough, she's pregnant as she's put on some weight. Everything has been okay up this point but I'm just wondering, when she'll likely have the kittens? I've got the nesting box ready for her and I've been watching her habits. She's slowed down eating and is using the litterbox more but it's normal when i clean it out. I've also felt the kittens be more active. Before i didn't feel them as much but now that She's very lumpy and round, i can feel them at times. Seems like they're doing okay.
Also i feel i should inform you all about something. Marble has seizures of some sort. The pregnancy we've noticed has made them occur more often than before. She's even fallen off some things but we've done everything we can to prevent it. Marble has had 2 litters before, both were small and only the second litter survived as by the time Shannon's family went to bring her in, she'd already had them and they never found them out in the woods by their house.
Fortunately, she's no longer an outdoors kitty at least not until she's spayed. Which I've talked to him about because i think it's best we do that for her sake. Other than her seizures, she is fine. She is the sweetest cat ever even though she drools too and compulsively licks herself which has only increased from her current state. Any advice on this whole situation would be great. We will keep you updated with her and the kittens progress. Thanks.

Hi *waves* I'm also quite new so no specific advice except to read as much as you can on here, you will learn so much just browsing through the posts. At the top of this group there are some pinned posts on pregnancy & birth that are fantastic reading. Before I joined here I was clueless and just by reading as much as I could we got through a pregnancy, birth and are now hand rearing 5 kittens without any panic, the ladies on here are fantastic and give amazing support if you need help with anything.

Is the cat on any medication for the seizures? May be worth chatting with her vet just to check it wont cause any complications with the pregnancy or birth. I think its pretty much impossible to date a pregnancy from photos, but I'm sure I read that when you start seeing movement you have around 2 weeks to go, one of the experts will confirm that, unless you know actual dates she got out then they will be able to work it out better for you...

A cat's average pregnancy lasts 65 days - some go longer, 70 days is time to visit the vet.  If she conceived early on during the visit, she'll give birth in the first week of August.  If she conceived more than once during her heat cycle she could give birth on more than one day or she could deliver premature kittens with the first batch.

How old is Marble?  She is very pretty.

Hi! Welcome to TCS!

Marble has a very pregnant tummy and is a very pretty calico!

Based on the dates you provided, she is due in about 10 days to two weeks.

I think you need to take Marble to the vet right away and ask about her seizures. The vet may be able to give her medicine to control them.

The labor and delivery process may or may not aggravate her condition that is causing the seizures, which is why the vet can give you advice on what may be causing them.

On the chance that Marble has any issues with nursing or caring for her kittens after they are born, I suggest that you purchase a can of powdered KMR by PetAg from your vet, a pet store, or Walmart, and pick up a 1mL syringe from a pharmacy in case you need to supplement the kittens.

Because Marble has lived outside most of her life, she may have experienced an infection that has caused a neurological problem. Do you know if she has ever had shots?

I am glad she is now an indoor cat. Due to her seizures she should not be an outdoor cat again. She sounds very sweet and will hopefully make a great mom to healthy kittens.

She needs lots of kitten chow and wet food, and you can give her a daily dish of KMR to drink for extra calcium. A raw egg yolk mixed into her wet food will provide extra protein.

Please let us know what the vet says and how Marble is doing with her pregnancy. Do you plan to spay her once her kittens are weaned?

Hello and sorry for the late reply everyone. I was out most of the day yesterday. Marble is doing well and is still very pregnant.
To answer some of your questions, right now my boyfriend and i are broke until Wednesday of next week but once we get paid, if she has not had them by then, we will schedule a visit to the vet and get the scale and kmr supplies. Lately things have been stressful with my boyfriend's work shift temporarily changed to overnights so I've been solely managing her. While also at the vet, we will ask what we can do about her seizures. When his family got her, she already had this problem. We are unsure what could've caused it and are hoping it may be reversible. They only seem to happen when she grooms her back extensively. But we are willing to do whatever it takes to help her be better.
I have a question as i was in petsmart yesterday and i saw there were these anxiety harness/jackets for cats to help with a variety of problems including grooming. Do you think it would also be something to invest in or should i ask the vet?

Marble is also on Purina indoor cat chow complete nutrition dry food and special kitty wet food. I give her a can every 3 days. She's eating very well. But i will start supplementing kmr into her food if that's best before and after she has the kittens for awhile too.

You should ask the vet before using any kind of harness or jacket unless prescribed. Her seizures sound neurological and during pregnancy and lactation is not the time to introduce a device like that.

She should really get a can of wet food every day while she's pregnant, though it sounds as though she is doing well other than the seizures.

You can find a scale and KMR at Walmart - probably much cheaper than through the vet.

I'm glad she will be an indoor only cat from now on. She will stay healthier :).

I will consult the vet on the harness but I'll try to up her receiving the wet food soon once we have money again.
Will i be able to get a syringe at Wal-Mart as well? I know they sell small newborn bottles for kittens and puppies but I'm afraid that'll be too big for their mouths right now.

Also she's not been leaking any fluids yet, be it milk or otherwise. I felt one of the kittens move about thirty mins ago so think they're doing alright even though I'm sure they're crowded now. Her tummy has somewhat gotten tighter too. She still loves me rubbing it for her nonetheless.

Do you think the vet could tell me how many kittens there are now? I'm having a hard time figuring it out. Its at least one but i cannot honestly tell. Sometimes i think it's four when she's her biggest and then i think it's only 2 or 1.

You can ask at the pharmacy at Walmart for the syringe.  They may just give it to you.  Make sure it is small. 1-2 ml/cc
