I'm a bit concerned about this kitten. She was out of a litter of 3 from our barn cat, who was hit by a car about 2 weeks after the kittens were born. We bottle fed pet formula and lost 2 of the 3 to fading kitten syndrome. My concerns are that she has 3 feet with only 3 claws and 1 foot with 4. She also appears to not be growing at a normal rate, she's about the size of a 2 week old. All of her skills seem right on target for her age. I'm definitely ok with having a special needs kitten but I'm still very concerned.

I am so sorry about the momma cat being hit by a car. How awful for you and those kittens. :shame: It sounds like the litter was not very healthy either and I am sorry you lost the other two. It was meant to be that way, I guess, sadly. They would have not thrived well. As for the last one - I can only suggest that you take the kitten to a vet for an examination. How old is she now? Are you still bottle feeding? If you think she is not growing and gaining weight, then she does need to be seen by the vet to see if there is anything they can do to save the third kitten. I am sorry for all you have been through and do keep us posted. :vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes:

p.s. I know all about barn kitties and it is always a never-ending battle to keep up with the newcomers and dump offs. I always try to get them trapped as soon as I see them and get them fixed quickly. Of course, I do not know the history behind this momma kitty that had these kittens. Sometimes you just don't even know if they are pregnant and that is why I always try to get them captured quickly. :vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes: and thank you so much for helping feral cats.

She's approximately 7 weeks old. She has a vet appointment scheduled for Monday as we needed to start her shots. She refuses to drink the formula since the passing of the other kittens. She eats a kitten food soaked in water mush with great glee so I'm not really worried about that. I was hoping someone else had any experience I could learn from.

This sounds like a genetic issue to me (possibly due to inbreeding??) I would be concerned about other issues...heart abnormalities, digestive/absorption disorders, possible dwarfism??

If she were mine, I wouldn't be rushing to vaccinate right now, especially due to her small stature and lack of proper growth. I would focus my energy on why she has these other issues and make sure she is really healthy before administering vaccines.

Curious to what your vet had to say, so please do keep up updated!

The vet appointment was made when we brought the kittens to the vet after their momma was buried. Kept the appointment so the vet could examine her again and run any testing needed.

Tyche is doing well. I have minimal knowledge of her mom and no knowledge whatsoever of her dad (we just moved here 3 months ago and the momma was already pregnant). The vet is doing a lot of testing, but said in his opinion she is inbred and that we should be prepared for her to not live a very long life. He also said that aside from the physical differences she is right on the mark for 7-8 weeks old. So now we wait for test results.

Well then, some good news from the vet that Tyche is growing well and about the right size. I hope that she continues to do very well and thrive under your care. :vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes: for those test results. Your doing the best you can for this little one and she is lucky that you have taken her in. :hugs: Keep us posted.
