I have a 4 week old kitten and am now looking into kitten food. Can anyone suggest what's best to feed them? I have orijen for dry but not sure what to feed for canned food?
Nature's Variety (Instinct and Pride), Nulo, Wellness CORE kitten, and Wild Calling are a few to check into.
Many here feed Fancy Feast and Merrick. FF has made my cats sick, so I steal clear and Merrick was not taken very well.
I always start my kittens off on Nature's Variety Instinct limited ingredient turkey formula as I have yet to have a kitten/cat that has an intolerance or allergy to turkey.
I would say, decide what is most important to you about the food (high protein, grain-free, gum-free, etc...) and select one or two brands to start out with (I would also stick to chicken/turkey for a few weeks.)
For me, I want a high protein, low carb, grain-free and carrageenan-free food. These are the factors most important to me. I feed my cats Nature's Variety (Instinct and Pride), Nulo (on occasion b/c it contains agar-agar), and have added in Purina's new Muse line.
