Well - BLESS you for taking in and caring for these feral cats that you have now AND for doing what you did for this calico girl. I think letting her out was for the best. Try not to worry. They are quite resilient and hopefully you will see her return very soon. :cross: Who knows - over time she may one day decide that she want that indoor life with you. It does happen with feral cats but as you say can take many, many months even years before they make that move to give up the outdoor life. For now - she is now spayed , she will have good care with you watching over her, a place to call her own and have a healthier existence because of your TNR. NOW - you can rest easy and take that "vaca" !!!

p.s. OH - usually - even the low-cost clinics do give the antibiotic injection , especially since they know she was going to be released back outdoors. It is a very common practice with all TNR cats.
That is good to know, now I have my friends looking at used dog cages for me!

I have not seen her since release, I hope she is ok. I will be worried until I see her. Could she be so terrified now, she won't come back for food?

It is common for them to be gone a day or two.  Give her a few days.  Also she might come at a different time so watch for her or leave some dry food out during the day.

I know it is such a worry.  I have had ferals come back in as short as 6 hours and those that didn't come back for 3 days.  Most of them do return within a day or two.  Just leave food/water out in case she comes during the day.  Don't leave it out at night as you don't want to attract critters.  Hopefully she returns later today or tomorrow.  Keep us posted.

They usually take a day or two to forget about it. Or if they don't forget it usually takes a day or two for them to get hungry enough to trust you again. Leave out some water and dry food at her usual feeding place, she'll be wary at first but she'll come back eventually.

Still no Miss Kitty, hope she is ok!
Me too.. :cross:. Just as the other's have mentioned, it is very, very common for them to disappear for a few days. The stress of the whole process tends to make some cats stay away, although not all. I tend to also worry more about the females though and their recovery. The surgery is much more involved, obviously, with female cats than the males and that is why we like to confine them longer. In most cases, they do just fine though. Keeping up loads of vibes that she returns quickly and will show herself soon to you. She may be coming around at night looking for food/water but unfortunately the raccoons and opossums will get at it first. I would put the food out very early in the morning, like you usually do because that was her usual time to visit. VIBES for her return and recovery :vibes: :vibes: :vibes: :vibes: :vibes: :vibes: :vibes: :vibes: :vibes:

Hang in there. (I am sorry we keep telling you this too. :sigh:) I am telling you, being a feral cat caretaker, TAKES SO MUCH out of us and our hearts because we just do not have any control over their safety and security. I always tell myself, with relief though, that the feral cat newly TNRd can no longer breed thus saving more of the same being born outside. Such a difficult existence. So think of that anyway - she doesn't have to worry about being pregnant and caring for kittens on top of herself. Let's just know that she will be alright now and recover from her surgery and return back to you SOON. Don't give up hope of seeing her. :Shooting Star: :9: :vibes:

It poured today and I was thinking of the poor thing!
I am still hopeful and as Ritz put above - some cat's may disappear for up to a few weeks especially if they have other food resources elsewhere. So let's hold on to hope !! :vibes:
