Good morning!
 And Happy Friday!
It's been a long week and I'm ready for 4:00.

Easy question this morning: Windchimes? Yes or No?

I'm saying no. Many years ago, I was working third shift, so I was sleeping during the day.....or trying to. Our neighbors had just bought this huge pair of windchimes (and I use that term loosely). Those puppies were gigantic and the sounds they made were more like a deep bass than a tinkle in the wind. I had the windows open and every time the breeze blew, all you heard was BOOM, BOOM! Finally, around 11 or so, I got out of bed, walked over to the neighbor's porch and took the windchimes down. I put them on the lawn chair and walked away. Came home and crashed.

Later on that night, I walked back over and told the neighbors what I had done. She wasn't angry at all; she said she figured it was me and she wasn't sure what shift I was working that week, but she said she hesitated to put the chimes out. After I finished my third shift week, I gave her a call and said, "OK! You can put your chimes out now! I'm done til next month!" And I took over some cookies as a peace offering.

I don't mind the little tinkly ones. But boy, those big ones are loud. Especially when you're trying to sleep during the day.

I love them so yes. We used to have them but they broke years ago.

It HAS been a long week and I am way past ready for 4:00 too

Lilith has been having one of her SUPER picky food weeks. One where nothing makes her very happy unless it's coming off MY plate.

Indoors, sure. I can run my hand over them when I feel like hearing the noise. Outside, nope. Can't control the wind :tongue2:. I end up getting VERY tired of the noise after 10 minutes or so.

There was one in the house when I moved in. The previous owners had it hung by an air vent so it tinkled whenever the heat/AC kicked on. It got moved to a less active location the first night I spent in the house, LOL.

I love wind chimes and had a large set tuned to a medieval scale that gave out beautiful deep tones.  When I lived in a house far away from other people, I had it hanging up but when I moved to an apartment with balconies, I reluctantly decided after one windstorm that it had to come down.  Many people had the small tinkly ones hanging and in storms, the whole place used to suddenly be filled with strange music.  I kind of liked it but realized it might not be to everyone's taste so I never did get have a wind chime hanging on my balcony.  I did, however, bring mine inside where I could touch it and hear it chime.  It always reminded me of the garden I had left behind and brought a little bit of nature inside.

It would be a "Not in my house" / "What a lovely chime you have!" for me

I really like the sound but I like my silence better. I'm out off the house Monday-Friday until around 7 pm I get home (Sometimes later), Saturdays and Sundays there's always an event to attend or people to visit, so I'm always on the move around the city with traffic and people, so while I enjoy their sounds, I want to come home to silence and peace.

I do like them for outdoors but on my very small property, it would annoy my neighbor for sure. And us most likely. I'd probably put it in the back patio area but our bedroom is right on top of it.  I have enough trouble sleeping without having them banging around all night.

Yes, I like the tinkly ones.  My next door neighbor just put some up and they sound very nice but I certainly wouldn't like them if they kept me awake at night.

I don't have any; but my MIL has a large set that I LOVE!  They must be a good quality because they are truly pleasant to listen to.  They are also in a corner between her sunroom addition and the rest of the house; so that might prevent them from being "too much."  There are no bedrooms right near them; and we sleep in a basement bedroom anyway, so the sound has never bothered me.

If they were a higher pitch "tinkle" sound I might not enjoy them.  But MIL's are pleasant to listen to!

I don't like them. Many of my neighbours are older and they all have windchimes. They annoy me and my daughter asks what they are ALL the time. It gets to be annoying after a while.

I have quite a few tinkly ones in my sitting room and a larger one outside on my balcony. I like them.
