This is my Rosie's second litter, she had 2 kittens 2 years ago and three kittens yesterday, she is an indoor cat but escaped i must get her spayed I know but anyway back to my point.

She gave birth yesterday and spent all day with them but today she has decided to sit with me. The kittens are not crying or anything they are quite happy but I am just not used to it as her first litter she was very protective of and wouldn't let us near them but this time she is quite happy to leave them.

This morning she picked all three kittens up and brought them to me and then went and lay on my bed, is this normal?? I am worried she is going to abandon them any advice would be appreciated thabks.

I think its quite normal.  She being mom for second time, she is more at ease now.  And also, she knows you are human good to have around, so your presence helps her to be even more comfortable with the situation.

If the kittens are contend and happily sleeping, and itns not cold where you are - so they dont need the actively warming up from mom...

Of course its wise if you DO have your eyes open.

A good way to know how its developing is to weigh them every day, at the same time.

This way you see immediately if they gain as they shall (about 10+ grams a day,)   or if they dont gain.  If they dont gain, you KNOW you must be extra observant, even supplement them etc...

An electronical scale measuring in grammes is easiest.   You dont need anything fancy and costly, there are such quite cheap too...  Or you can perhaps borrow from somenone.

Ah thank you so much I was worried about it, as she never done that with their first even as they got older she used to try drag them back to the nest if they jumped up on me.

I just made sure they were snuggled into me so they got all my heat, they were fine they just slept the whole time.

Thank you for your reply
