Hi all,

I have a 12 year old Tortoiseshell cat and she has not been acting her self over the last couple of days.

Her symptoms are:

- Licking the inside of her mouth and sticking out her tongue

- Runny poos

- Her fur which is usually really soft is not soft at all

- She hasn't been too interested in her food.  She usually lives for her food and is begging for her breakfast the second I get up, however today she hasn't asked for it at all.  Over the past couple of days she has asked for it however when I give it to her she walks away from it but has been slowly eating it throughout the day.  Usually she scoffs it down in one go.

- She has also been acting very lethargic

She appears to be getting worse and I'm not sure what I can do.  I hate seeing her like this.  I will be making a vet appointment but I was wondering if there is anything that anyone else has experienced that sounds similar to this.

I haven't changed her food or anything like that recently so it can't be that and we don't use any chemicals for cleaning the house, just vinegar as I have allergies.

Please help, my cat means everything to me and I love her so much!

Any advice you could give would be great!

Thanks!

Did yoy introduce a new plant into the house, or bathe her with a new shampoo? Do you see any bumps inside her mouth?

No we don't have any plants inside the house and we have never bathed her.  She keeps herself spotless so we never had any reason to, I think should would probably shred me to pieces if I tried.

About to go to the vets in a couple of minutes so hopefully I will find out more then.

I took her to the vets and she thinks that Tasha (my cat) has banged he chin on something as this is where she displays pain.  She has given her a pain relief injection and given us pain relief tablets to give her and told us that if she still hasn't eaten within a day to bring her back so they can do x-rays and more testing, though she said the chin bone doesn't feel like it has fractured.

Poor little girl. I hope she feels better soon. You might find that blending and watering down the wet food to make it lapable would help her to eat a little more - chewing must really hurt right now.
