Then rub the kitten gently with a towel to dry it and warm it.

Your mama cat is restless because she is still in labor and will deliver more kittens.

You can do the same with each kitten if she does not do it herself. Keep them all on the heating pad until mom is done. Then settle mom and put the kittens to her to nurse. No need to supplement yet.

I see our messages crossed. I'm glad she's with her baby now. She may get up to have more at some point. We'll have to see. Good job on your part!

Ok placenta is off i put momma and baby in a box with towels and she seems to be taking care of her....I am keeping a eye on them and momma to see if she has anymore. Fingers crossed all goes well. Thank you for all the responses
I'm happy to hear this ^^ sounds like what I said was correct. She went into labor rather quickly and it caught her off guard. That can make a mom leave the kitten behind (as it was on the floor). She is now taking care of it, so I think the kitten will be fine and mom will be a great mom ;) Keep an eye on the kitten tho, just in case. And good luck to you, it sounds like she's not done yet. Keep us updated!

How long should I wait to see if she has another one or not before i take her to the vet. Her belly is huge so I know there has to be more babies. I just want to make sure they are all ok? She doesn't look like she's having contractions or anything is that normal? The first kitten I found almost 3 hours ago and not sure how long it had already been out. This cat was a stray I took in pregnant so that is why I have no idea what to do with her. First timer here. [emoji]128527[/emoji]

It can take a while, sometimes even days. As long as she's not in active labor (obvious contractions) you shouldn't worry yet. If you do see she's having push contractions but no kitten comes out within 30 minutes you should call your vet and explain what happened and that she has been pushing for 30 minutes but no kittens yet. If she does have these contractions (the push ones) and they suddenly stop without any ktiten born, you should also call the vet and go there (this can mean a stuck kitten).

It's also possible this already occured as you found the kitten and cat later on. If she seems relaxed I would wait it out. If you are worried you can always call your vet and ask them what they think as I can't see her of course. But it doesn't sound worrisome to me this far.

She will eventually go back into labor. They can pause for hours or days. As biancavd biancavd said, unless she is in distress trying to deliver a kitten, there is nothing to do but wait.

She's just laying there with the kitten I felt her belly and you can feel babies moving inside for sure....I checked under her tail to make sure I don't see a baby stuck. She just has dark blood dried up there....she is meowing however but I still don't see her contracting. I will just check up on her every so often so I'd don't stress her out.

Some moms get pretty stressed out with delivering, so please be sure to keep a constant eye on her, as she may very well get up and drop the newborns out of her each time. She has already raised a red flag for me, from not chewing the cord, which is the first sign that she is not going to do this right without help and guidance.

When the babies are delivered, if she does not at least tear the placenta, do it and hand the baby to her face to get her interested in cleaning and getting it going.

Dont allow time to pass though, there is only minutes to get the baby breathing.

Cords can be cut with dental floss if you have some and any scissors.

Tie a piece about an inch from the babys body, pulling tight to cut off the blood supply, and snip with scissors.

Don't leave any long strings from the floss or thread used.

Still no other babies....just waiting to see if anything happens. So far she's still meowing but no contractions.

You can try putting your hand on her belly (just placing it on there) and see if it's getting hard (like a rock) and then soft again. If so, she's in pre-labor :) You won't see these pre-contractions with the eye, but you can feel them if you keep your hand on her for a bit.

her belly feels hard all around but not getting soft and hard like a contraction... i can feel little lumps the good thing is i can feel them moving around. The baby is nursing and she is just purring away so hopefully she delivers the rest. She seems to want me there with her she meows for me and comes out of the box when i leave the room. Soon as I walk back in she rubs against me then goes back to the kitten and just looks at me till she falls asleep :)

Post if you like - it wouldn't hurt, definitely depends how much blood and if it's bright red or looks just like some leftover from the birthing process.

I'm not an expert or anything, though it doesn't seem like enough to indicate a haemorrhage or a significant bleed. If she's eating and drinking etc I wouldn't be overly concerned. Any chance you know if all the placentas came out?

Yes all the kittens still had all or a little bit left I think they may of came out quickly and she is still trying to clean them up. She is a small kitten so I think this is her first litter and she's still learning but she is doing great with them all. I just wanted to make sure it's not too much blood since I have no idea what the norm is.
