I left my 10 week old kitten alone in my bedroom for abou two minute. Luckily i was coming back into the bedroom.... when i noticed she got caught in the soft fabric handle of my laundry hamper. The string was so unbelievably tight it took me about 35 seconds to cut it off... plus the time it took me to run like a mad woman to find the scissors. Im adding a picture of the string just to give you a visual. The string was so tight that she couldnt even gasp for air. She made a strange clicking noise, and then when i held her afterwards... she seemed fine. I fed her a bit of wet food to make sure she could easily swallow.... her eyes are bloodshot.... and now she is acting as she normally does at this time of day. SO... my question to you is... is there something i need to look out for? Could there be damage done to her body? Is she ok?

Id also be grateful for any advice as to kitten proofing my home. Obviously i threw away my hamper.... and i tied up my window shades string. Any other ideas??

Get her straight to the vet - treat it as an emergency. You need to be certain that there isn't any invisible damage.

i'm not surprised you're stressed. Stay calm. These things happen. Kittens are incredibly ingenious when it comes to getting into trouble! Its ok.
 for you and
for her.

Was she ever unresponsive?  As long as she is swallowing she should be OK, you should at least call your vet and get some advise on what to do. I had a cat that had brain damage from a high fever and she meowed constantly, so watch her carefully for any changes in behavior. I'll pray for you both, I'm so happy the outcome was a happy one, she is one lucky kitten! All the luck and a long future together!

Im so glad you caught your kitten in time! If you had waited any longer, it would not have been so good!
So glad she is doing better, but checking with the vet would be a good idea.:-)
