Please help--we were in Cleveland for the holidays and went to the movies one night at Magic Johnson theatre in North Randall. Both going in and coming out later, i saw a small kitten in the parking lot--tried to catch it, and followed it to a dumpster, but lost it in the dark..i went back the next day and left food and water. but then we had to return home to upstate NY..while out there, i tried to call animal agencies, but they were all closed..so is there someone who can go there and try to trap it??? i almost think it may be an unwanted xmas present..saw no other cats around...i think the kitty may find shelter but food must be hard to come by--all the dumpsters are closed...please email me and i will give you specific locations where i left the food and where i saw the kitty...or if anyone knows of an organization that can help...i am desperate --can't do much long distance...so please, please help????i need an angel...

You must be a good soul to be so worried about that kitten. I think you will find that there are a lot of us just like you here.

If you need any advice on starting a trap neuter release program for your strays, let us know. There are many of us who care for feral colonies and have practiced TNR for years. Also, go to http://www.alleycat.org for a wealth of information about TNR.

I live right up the road from Randall Mall. Where at the mall exactly did you see the kitten? I can try and look for it, or try and contact groups around here, if I have more info on exactly where you saw it.

Hi Christy,
Thank you in advance...
When you are facing the Magic Johnson theatre, go to your left..way over were 2 tractor trailers backed up to a loading dock and to the right of that is a dumpster..i kept seeing the kitty run over to the dumpster area. to the right of the dumpster is an alcove with several exit doors..that is where i left the food to the left of the alcove entrance. the kitty was in this general area..when we first saw it at 7pm it was under a car and ran over to the general area of the dumster. if someone could go and see that it has food. i believe it can find shelter there even in a storm, but food is probably scarce since there are no open dumpsters. it is a young kitten--all alone...please let me know what happens...he/she is on my mind constantly....
Thanks,
Ursula

Ursula,

I have off so I'll go and see if I can find the kitten tomorrow. Have you had any luck contacting local groups? I know a couple groups have their cats at the nearby PetSmart, so I'll try and get in touch with them. Luckily, the weather is supposed to be warm here the next few days. I'll take food with me for the kitten.

Bless you for caring!

Hi Christy,
I have been in email-touch with Rainbow Connection..they said they would try to find a volunteer to send over there, but so far i have not heard anything definite.. i know the kitty is apprehensive, and you may have to go several times at various hours in order to see her/him.. you can find the food container i left (inside the alcove to the left), and see if it is empty...thank goodness for the warm weather...we just trapped a stray/feral kitty yesterday at a local shopping center. it is going to the vet on monday, but last night it spent its first night in warm surroundings with lots of food.. that is all i wish for the little guy in cleveland--he/she deserves a happy new year...and thank you for what you are doing...
please let me know...

Ursula,

Have you visited our Strays & Ferals forum? You sound like a wonderful feral friend. We'd love to have you visit the ferals forum and share with us the work you are doing with feral cats up in New York.

Ursula,

I went to check on the kitten today, but didn't have much time because there was a police car sitting right by the trailers! I guess I could have talked to them, but I was afraid if I did they'd contact animal control and the kitten would end up at the local humane society (not a good thing for a feral kitten).

I did drive around the theater area and quickly checked by the dumpster and trailers-but saw no kitty. I left a bowl of food (I went before I saw your last message so I didn't look for your bowl to see if it had been eaten).

I'll try and check back this weekend (and bring along a friend to divert attention while I search the trailers) and leave more food. If you hear anything positive from the Rainbow Connection, like they have a volunteer looking for the kitten or have caught it, let me know.

Dear Renae,
I will be sure to check out the forum....i have really just started helping feral cats..i have always had cats but really became aware of their plight when i started researching it after i saw 3 kitties at a local mall..i have been feeding them and "built" them shelter for our huge nov. snow storm--knew nothing about trapping, etc. but just a few days ago, a volunteer and i trapped the remaining kitten, who is now awaiting a vet appointment on monday..new years day was the first day he ever spent in a warm environment with lots of food, hissing all the time!!!! but he is young enough to be socialized...makes me feel really good....i have a feeling i have found my calling for my senior years!!!
Happy new year to everyone out there!!!

Some news---the Rainbow Connection has sent out a volunteer who saw the kitty...they are going to try to trap it soon---neuter it and release it to a large feral colony they maintain at the racetrack (?)....they don't have the manpower to try to socialize any cats that are not kittens (they think this one is about 5 months old)...but it will have shelter and food for its entire life and for that i am grateful..
Christy, thanks so much for your effort...you are a special person--
will keep everyone here informed as to what is happening as this progresses...

How wonderful!!!! I cheered when I saw your post. I'm glad kitty will be taken care of. I figured it might have come from the race track, and gotten lost. Perhaps it will be returning home soon.

Thank you for caring so much. I hope we see you around here often!

Ursula,

Have you heard anything from the Rainbow Connection about the Randall Park kitty? I've been worrying and wondering what happened to it...

Hi Christy,
The last i heard from the rainbow connection was that a volunteer did see a kitty by the theatre, so i emailed them on friday to see if they were making any progress with trapping him and still haven't gotten a reply. with this cold weather (here is new york it is zero degrees), i am really worried. I know they are overworked and have lots of calls this time of year and depend on volunteers.....as soon as i hear anything, i will post it here....
Keep your fingers crossed for the little guy to be rescued...
