It's a bit odd that a breeder calls him a 'Smoky Silver Classic'. There is no such thing as a Smoky Silver Classic.

Smoke basically means a Silver non-tabby.

Silver Classic means Silver with the classic tabby pattern.

So this means that what she says is very contradictory and something she shouldn't say, specially as she said his coloring correct before that. Which means he is indeed a Black Smoke. The tabby markings you see are ghost markings, which is common with smoke kittens. I'm sure he'll grow up handsomely =^^=

I think that's just her own cute name for the color, she knows he's a black smoke. I just wasn't sure if there were different types of smoke names based on how much white showed through or if the tabby markings were more prominent, etc..

Thanks!

Lets also call on @GemsGem    who is a Maine Coon conneiseur,  and knows what the americans use for language in these situations.

I mean, I know BiancaVd is very knowleable also Re.colors, but there may always be local twitches.    :)

Got it, and there are actually ^^

You have chinchilla, shaded and smoke. Smoke is the heaviest of the 3, followed up by shaded and chinchilla. The 3 names basically explain how much of the tip of the hair is the regular color (in your kitten's case black), and what part is the silver (white). Smoke is about 50/50, Shaded is about 75/25, Tipped around 87.5/12.5 (white/black - bottom/top). So the more white on a hair, the more white will shimmer through the fur. I think you can google some examples on the coloring if you are interested. Chinchilla also goes under the names 'Tipped' and 'Shell'.
