My husband found a 10-11 week old male kitten a few days ago. We found an abscess on his back and he developed a pretty bad infection. He was fine the first three days we had him. He ate, pooped, and peed like normal. Then we noticed he was very lethargic. His lethargy worsened and when he refused food, I brought him to the animal hospital where they lanced, expressed, and flushed the abscess. He had a temperature of 106 and they gave me clindamycin drops to administer twice daily. He perked up considerably within the first day although still pretty sleepy, he actually ate and went potty. He's had three doses so far and it's almost time for the fourth. He just woke up from a long nap meowing, which isn't abnormal; he's very vocal, but I noticed he was having a hard time standing up. I took him out of his box and set him on the floor to see if he'd stretch and walk it off, assuming he was just sleepy. He immediately fell and he's very wobbly. He keeps leaning and falling to the left and his head shakes. It looks like his eyes are moving side to side like he's dizzy. I though he went blind but he followed my finger. He seems fine other than the wobbling. He went to his bowl and tried a few bites of food but he had a hard time because he was wobbling/falling so bad. Is this a side effect of clindamycin? Does he have brain damage from a high temperature? If you have any ideas or have experienced this, please let me know! Thanks.

First and foremost, please call your vet!

It could be a number of things causing this reaction, but just imagine if your legs stopped working. It's just as scary with your kitten.

I hope the vet can give you good answers and help your kitty!
