new kitten wakes up slinging drool everywhere and running

About 20 minutes ago I was sitting on couch with the kitten right beside me and suddenly he wakes up running in circles and slinging drool then he goes running all over for a few minutes, then stops and stands in place breathing hard and meowing very loudly, I started petting him and he finally calmed down and then went right back to sleep. I got this cat 3 days ago from people who probably didn't take great care of him, he looks about 10 to 12 weeks but they weren't sure and the first two days he was fine but today my mom said he done it before I got home also, so that's twice in about a 5 hour period. So any ideas of what this is or how to handle it?

Hi, I don't know what it could be, but to me, this sound quite serious. I would call a vet ASAP and talk with them to see if a visit is necessary (I'd say yes).

I remember my parent's cat had a similar reaction one day, it turned out it was an intoxication (poisening?) with some kind of plant. I'm not saying this is it, but I would have him checked urgently.

I'm sure other members will help you better but if they don't answer right away, please consider calling a vet?

Yeah we have 5 grown cats so we know about the toxic house plants and have made sure not to have any but I have seen one of our other cats eat a grasshopper type thing and acted like she had a bad taste in her mouth but she didn't freak out as bad as this kitten so I'm thinking its something like that bc he is acting fine now but I will keep monitoring him if it happens again I will see a vet. Also I haven't named him BC were trying to find him a new home. Thanks for responding so fast
