Anyway, it sounds like your cat's water is breaking, which is usually no more than 24-48 hours prior to labor and delivery - so you should have kittens by this weekend. Let us know how things are going. I'll be around if you have any concerns.

I have a feeling she's going into labor. I haven't been able to sleep all night. I went into the room she was in to check on her and my grandpa told me she's in her box and meowing and scratching. She never goes in that box, she usually sleeps on top of it and she just keeps kneading the bedding. She's stopped meowing now that I'm with her. She's not just trying to come up and be petted, she's just just laying in the bedding covering her eyes and kneading.

Wow! That's a lot of kittens! I'm so sad to hear about the stillborn. Has mama nursed any of the babies yet?

Yea they're all trying to figure it out. I think there may be one more stillborn though. Looked like a placenta at first but it's been in there since kitten #2

No it is the placenta from kitten 2 it's actually still connected. Pretty sure momma is done, there hasn't been any more contractions or rapid breathing. So kitten count is 4 healthy babies, 3 black and one orange tabby, and 1 stillborn. Which was still a fetus, not too far behind the other kittens. Probably got too crowded in there and that was why I didn't see any movement.

Is it completely out now? Along with all the other placentas? It sounds like Suki had a successful birthing, although with the loss of one :( are you able to weigh the kittens?

I have a regular bathroom scale, I'm not sure that that would work, but they all seem to be moving around pretty well, nursing, and breathing, so they seem healthy.

All very good signs! I would recommend getting or borrowing a kitchen scale that weighs in oz so you can keep track of your babies and make sure they're thriving :)

Well, congratulations! And your vet's estimate was right on the money.

Cats mate multiple times during heat. It's possible the under-developed fetus was from a later mating and needed more time to mature. It's also possible it stopped developing due to a genetic defect. It's good that she expelled all placentas along with the stillborn.

How are mama and babies this morning? Hopefully resting and nursing well. If mom ate the placentas she may not be hungry for a meal yet, but be sure she has fresh water.

We'd love to see pictures when you can get them! I'm glad it all went smoothly! :)

sorry I couldn't really get a better picture. But mother and kittens are happy and healthy it seems, to my knowledge she still hasn't eaten. But she did eat all of the placentas. All kittens are nursing.
