Just curious if anyone else uses Amazon Smile or has even heard of it. Amazon.com doesn't make it well known. I found out about it after getting a pop up message during a browse through Amazon earlier this year. Amazon Smile is part of Amazon and only available in the US. By using Amazon Smile to make a purchase, Amazon will donate 0.5% of your purchase price of eligible items to the charity of your choice
Your initial charity choice is set at the default but you can change charity at at any time. It's a nice way to support your favorite charity just by shopping

i did not know about amazon smile, but just signed up and chose a charity. thank you for posting about this!

Yeah, it's not well advertised anywhere on Amazon about the charity feature

One thing to note is that you have to make a purchase using the smile.amazon.com URL in order for your chosen charity to receive the donation, not the regular Amazon . com URL. Your log in email address and password are the same. I just checked and you can only change charities when you are logged into Amazon Smile, not the regular Amazon. So book the Amazon Smile link to your web browser and use it the next time you shop

Lots of well known charities you can support just by shopping on Amazon - SPCAs, humane societies, WWF, IFAW, children charities, military / veteran charities, etc
I think you can even recommend a charity if you don't find it using the search.

GoodShop.com is another similar web site but there you can shop at many major retailers - Macy's, Barnes and Noble, Gap, Old Navy, Babies R Us, etc The donation amount varies among retailers.

Yes. I know about it and have used it for a while. I support the shelter that I foster Henry for.

 Nice
I support the local SPCA and the vet hospital they run. I LOVE that vet hospital
I've taken many pets there for treatment and always had a good experience even if the circumstances weren't great, like when my previous cat had to be admitted to the ICU.

Great topic!  I am going to post about it on my FB page.  I've been using Smile for some years now, but getting the word out is a good idea.

Spread the word

I'm sure all food banks can use every donation they can get. I've heard that more and more people these days are going to food banks because they can't afford supermarket prices or need to supplement what they can afford at the supermarket.

I've been using it for a while. I support one of our local rescues, the one we got Cocoabean from.

I also have been using it for over a year to support my local no kill feline rescue group. The shelter's site had a link to the Amazon Smile and their id, otherwise I never heard about it till then.

Cool
I think Amazon should publicize their Smile feature more, either to the general public or directly to charities and then it would be up to the charities to publicize their affiliation with Amazon Smile such as with a link on their web site or on flyers they may post at pet stores and such. And those who already use Amazon Smile can help spread the word about it

The cat shelter that we got Carrot from posted about it so we use it and donate to them whenever we remember. Amazon really should publicize it more though.

Nice
Dana-Farber does a lot of great work for cancer research and treatment

I admit that I use the regular Amazon to browse around first (no log in needed) and then when I find something to buy, I switch to Amazon Smile.
