My 16 1/2 yr old Siamese has recently been diagnosed with kidney disease and is on Azodyl. In the past 2 weeks, she is having what we think are seizures. She will just fall over and it lasts about 5 seconds; then she is fine and purring. Could it be a side effect from the Azodyl??

What else happens when she falls over?  Does she have muscle spasms, or what?  I've never heard of this type of side effect, but would definitely contact your Vet.

This website is my "bible" when it comes to kidney questions (I have a kidney cat myself).  I just looked up Azodyl and can't see anything in it that seems like it could cause seizures, but would still check with my Vet if I were you, because obviously something is amiss.   http://www.felinecrf.org/treatments_waste_products_regulation.htm  If you scroll down the page about 1/3 of the way you will find info on Azodyl.  Take a look around that entire website as there is some GREAT info in it.

Thanks for the info! After she falls over, she just lays there for a few seconds then gets back up and is back to her old self!

Sounds almost like she's fainting.  Very odd.  Did you call your Vet and discuss?
